Whats the cure for a wobbly, at header, standard exhaust?
1980 RD350LC.
(RememberI had this with my RD250LC over 40 years ago and Yamaha replaced the pipes, quite sure they won't do that now)

Is the spacer missing?

There was never a spacer but a crush gasket that disappeared quickly. I believe I have a nicer solution than the coat hanger which is 5mm carbon based HP pump packing but won't know until I get back.

If you are talking about the carbon fibre PTFE impregnated packing, which I think you are it may well work but needs to be crushed into place or it will burn away over time. Its stable up to 300 C in its uncrushed form, and can be used at 4-500 C for short periods but if it is crushed down to prevent blow by of gasses it can run at 6-700 C for long periods.

Hi, www.rd350lc.net/page4L0pb.htmwww.rd350lc.net/pot4LO-8082.jpgHope this helps, as said above make new wires for the flanges from a coat hanger, brazing rod or whatever you have of the appropriate size. If you search for brazing rod or wire coat hanger in the search function, you will find all the info you need. Steven.

I’ve used the snap rings that go on top of fork seals in the past

If the issue is a missing spacer, Norbo sells them. They were missing from my early 350 (1980) and I couldn't work out what was wrong.

I’ve used the snap rings that go on top of fork seals in the past I like that idea... for some of mine it would need to be thicker, but yep that is a good idea for most bikes. Ive often wondered why no one has made a simple replacement part for this, but it seems Yam already did. Good work Beardy!

Sorry, the Asian sun has gone to my head. The solution was to use two Norbo exhaust gaskets. I have the gland packing ready though.
