I can see that tank conversations are plentiful on here and that at No point is an Indian made replica to be touched ( I ve seen the vid of the tank opening reveal !!!!!) . I ve removed my tank and revealed some nastiness on the underside. Have contacted Hartlepool Rads who said they can ReNu line my tank and make some repairs for £300 +vat but this price could differ depending on how much welding is required . ( I have sent them these pics) the tank will be finished with a primer ready for painting . For comparison I ve contacted a company Devon tank restorers( who are a bit more local to me ) sent pics and spoke to them . They line the tank and subcontract the welding out and have quoted ( TBF he said very roughly ) about £750 ish again to the tank would be returned primed and ready for painting. I m keen to keep my original tank . I suppose what I m asking is are these prices “the current going rate “ see pics

Can't see any pics, but at those prices a new tank might be an idea. Good replicas are out there and aren't made in India!

Rip offs
Good repro tank is £400
Good genuine tank £250
You'll need to repaint regardless

If it's original lc and not a valve, new tank don't take the risk of heartache on anything else.

Your bike so your choice, but if it was me, I'd go with one of the repro ones (assuming it's an LC) and eBay the old one, you might get £100 to £150 back on that to offset the cost of the new one. If it's a PV tank, the F2 type are a bit easier to come by than 31K's and don't seem to rot quite as badly, or you'll have to bite the bullet and go with one of the repair options.

Unless you are building a nut and bolt original spec Lc with green bolts and Japanese air in the tyres, I would go new repro every time. No brainer for me

I wouldn't even think about getting that teabag of a tank fixed. The trouble you CAN see will be nothing compared the trouble you can't.....

That needs to go in the bin
Got a tank with Mark Cordwell just now getting done in Mars Bar colours.
£275 for paint on a new repro tank (as you have seen the Indian ones are shit, the Taiwanese ones are excellent) and £350 on a genuine used tank needing stripped and painted from scratch

its a bitsa/hubrid tank, so a no brainer, throw the collander in the bin and buy a repo tank, I have them as does Norbo, all my LC's have the repo tanks on and I am a fussy "fecker" !

First thing i would do is put the thing in this to find out what you have got . I did this to my own LC tank and thought that don't look too bad . Then i cut the bottom out and found the real horror story in the lower sides . Got a decent s/h tank and had a drain point fitted both sides before cleaning the inside / citric acid and a repaint .

Don't bin the tank. Outwardly it appears fine so use it a a bit of wall art.
Then go buy a new one...

Thanks guys for all the posts and advice 👍 it’s defo a new Tank then and well as for the newly named Tea Bag I’m liking the Wall Art suggestion with maybe a bottle opener where the petrol cap should be 🤔🤔😂 🍻
