Hi guys, I’ve been searching on here and the interweb for advice on earthing points on my rd350r YPVS (1995) frame. I’ve found info about grounding the coil direct to the frame and attaching the earth ring terminals to the coil and also the rectifier. However, i can’t find much info on where the powder coat needs sanding back to bare metal. So far I have sanded the top of the front coil mounting bracket on the frame back to bare metal. Does it then matter which mounting bolt you attach the earth cable to? I presume both mounting points on the coil are connected and are negative!!! I’ve then cleaned up the earth cable connection on the rectifier and just bolted that in place. Do I also need to sand one of the rectifier mounting brackets on the frame back to bare metal as well? I don’t want to get too carried away removing new powder coat 😬 Cheers Jim

No need to remove powder under the regulator
The earlier bikes have it on a plastic mounting plate so you'll be fine 🤣

Cool. Thanks Steve.
I’m glad I didn’t get too carried away otherwise half the bike would have been down to bare metal.
Cheers
