It’s my first question (probably of many) on here so please bear with me! I’ve just finished fitting my rebuilt engine on my 1977 RD250DX and have done the timing on the left side with a test bulb attached to the left points and ground, lights up at 2mm before tdc. When moving over to the right side with the test bulb attached to the points and ground there is no light from the test bulb when the points are open! I’ve installed new brushes today but still nothing, does anyone have any information they can share as to what I try next? I’m really struggling as it was running on both until I decided to do a rebuild so it must be something I’ve done but I have no clue as to what! Thanks Andy

Measure the voltage going to the coils, the feed is the same, so you should have a place to work from. Then measure the voltage coming from the coils to the points.connecting to the grey and orange wires… you should have 12v there too when points are open. From there go down to the points themselves, same orange or grey wire.
Somewhere along the way you are going to fins a bad connection. Good luck.
