Afraid so, it’s the new 8th air force equivalent to band of brothers/the pacific about European bombing campaign. Yes I’d prefer a bomber command version but sadly that would never get commissioned.

Band of Brothers. What a series. Tried to find it on Netflix but is only available in the US for some arsey reason. Found the DVD boxset on eBay for £3.

If you liked Band of Brothers then I’d recommend The Pacific, same sort of idea, it’s a brutal watch but maybe a more realistic view.
Currently on UK Netflix

The end result wasn’t all that tbh, the pacific and BofB were far better.

The end result wasn’t all that tbh, the pacific and BofB were far better. I've re-watched Band of Brothers probably 3 maybe 4 times and only watched The Pacific once. I may re-watch Masters of the Air in a year or two. That sums it up for me. The book that Band of Brothers is based on is worth reading. It's based on real testimony and research and the events in the series are spot on to the book.

Apologies for digressing - there’s a series of books called ‘Forgotten Voices’ done by The Imperial War Museum which are compilations of diaries and letters home from those who were involved. Compelling reading.

World War 2 From the Frontline - a mini-series on Netflix. Worth a look.

Veg have to agree , series started great [loads of action ]then petered out into a documentary about concentration camps and other atrocities , must have ran out of money for the CGI . PS ; apple tv was free with my phone so great value ,[only cost an I phone 15 ]

Watched the documentary it was pretty good and I’ve bought the book again an interesting read. However it like the series has an American slant eg; and the best allied fighter in the European Theatre until the P51 was the P-47? Really? Mk9 spitfire? The constant lack of recognition that we (d.u.k.e) forces had been at war since September 39. Always remember being in Normandy for the 50th anniversary and over heard some septic saying to his dad who was a vet about how amazing the US were and his old man put him right about how long we had been there before them and how ‘we’ landed on 3 beaches not 2, how we were first on the ground etc. I understand they are appealing to a US audience however anyone would think we were an irrelevance.
