Hello Ive just done a compression test on my 350lc. It came out with 75 P.S.I each barrel. This seems a good bit low to me that. What do you think it should be sat at. Thanks.

Seems on the low side, my YPVS after standing close on 10 years and before a complete rebuild was knocking out about 125psi each pot, there will be people on here with way more experience than me to say where it should be , but 75 seems low.

Throttle wide open?
On my cheapo gauge, 90 psi or lower is rebuild time. Freshly rebuilt is around 120psi.

Yes warmed up then kicked over with throttle wide open. Looking like engine out and barrels off for inspection Then probably looking for a rebore in North yorkshire somewhere

How many times do people kick the engine over before taking a reading?

Until the gauge stops going up.

A double check would be to put a bit of 2t down the bores and if the reading goes up, then probably the cylinders are fooked.

Yes just put oil in bores, one side went up up 80 the other 100 psi. New rebore required me thinks. Engine out today. See what it looks like. Mothered i would imagine.

Engine out ,barrels off. Not good news, one side has lost the circlip out and badly scored the barrel the other one is worn. Not sure if it will stand a rebore as scoring is bad. Piston has 25 on it not .25. I cant seem to add pics. Can these barrels be re sleeved any suggestions. Thanks

Try to get some pics on here. Re sleve is an option. PJME do them, not sure of the wait.

measure it with a verynear caliper just to check.. Muttsnuts, PJME and Grampian motors will advise if you give them a call

Paul at Pjme is a member on here. He did an awesome job resleeving my 350 barrels. There is a thread in the resto section if you want to see what's involved

Thanks 25 marked on the piston is 0.25 over size If it was 2.5 over it would say 250 on the top Circlip damage is usually deep. Given that the barrels can go to 2mm over and is on .25 gives a max diameter increase of 1.75 so if the score is 1mm they are shagged Personally given the availability of 250 barrels I'd buy another pair. Only getting them measured will tell for sure Steve

I'm getting mixed up between compression problem threads, thought yours was 250 but obviously 350 now I see them
If the bore is central in the liner 2.5 over is possible
With the rarity of 350 barrels I'd be getting that measured to see if you can get some more life out of it

Also looks like your measurements are wrong unless the are so worn you can fit a 64.25 piston in what was a 64mm bore
Piston looks like a ypvs one too

The liners look very thin? ?? A few points, The groove down the side of the bore has been made by the G-pin coming out of the piston, so either someone has forgot to put a C-clip in or it has come out. I think you are not measuring them correctly, my guess they are at worn 64.25mm The sleeve looks thin as someone has been porting them and chamfered edge to make it look thin. They will 100% need a bore BUT not sure what they will end up at due to the groove the G-pin has made, my guess they will end up on +1.50mm Hope that helps
