We sat down a few days ago and booked our ferry crossing from Portsmouth to Santander. So a repeat of our 2022 trip. I still have unfinished business with the Lands End to John O Groats that I want to sort out next year as well. The Mrs said it will have to be after our Spain trip. She's concerned that I'll fall off and hurt myself and won't be able to do the Spain trip I think.
What have others got planned or even thinking of doing?

I would like to go to the Manx as well. I might have to look into that. I gather it's not as difficult as arranging to go to the TT as far as hotel/B&B's and the ferry goes?

Not sure mate. I'm relying on Tim for the details. Ye gods what have I let myself in for?

Strange one the Manx. Became Uber popular pre pandemic then it doesn’t seem as busy past few years ( be interested in johnnys thoughts) last year it was quieter than previous years imo incl spare rooms at our digs. I’m back again this year. We are looking at doing some of the European classic road race rounds. Unfortunately don’t have the time to do any of the big European trips I used to.

If your mates are called Emily or Helen and have massive norks then I'm fine with that. If they are Bert and Albert who work in some Glaswegian welding shop then no.
Jesting aside, surely I get my own room?

I’m loving your naivety 😁. You might do depending on who and how many are staying. I share one room with a 64 yr old ex racer, and my 77 yr old neighbour (behaves like he is 27) then there is Tabasco bob an 80 yr old Californian ex air America pilot who Marshalls, Trev the builder won’t be going, John and Andy are two brothers both ride busa’s ones retired the others a paramedic both piss heads then there are a few others. When mcguiness, Hickman etc don’t race they generally come down for a bbq. All we do is ride the mountain/course eat shite, talk shite and bikes, drink shite watch racing for 7 days that’s it. Oh and go and bother Johnny in the paddock.

In May I'm off to Stirling/Uig (top left on Syke)/Inverness/Stirling then home. GS Adventure for this one. Manx GP again for a week's marshalling in August & after this year's grim digs I've been invited back to my previous gaff in Kirk Michael, so I'll be based just to the left of Douglas Road corner for the week. I'd like to take the 400LC this time or the EXUP...Might even take the car and trailer them both over? Northern Spain is looking like a possibility now maybe early October time, or failing that Dumfries & Galloway again. GS Adventure.
On a more general note I will use my new GS Adventure to make more frequent trips to my folks near Bristol. It's ~ 300 miles round trip so can do it on a full tank & ride through the Cotswolds too, so some route planning required.
Lots of trials riding too hopefully!!

We should definitely have a Manx GP meet up folks - what do you all reckon?

I gather it's not as difficult as arranging to go to the TT as far as hotel/B&B's and the ferry goes? True, but get it done as early as you can. I book my TT ferry a year ahead then modify the dates to suit when I know what I'm doing. End Feb is the cut off date for bookings to be paid for and confirmed, so that's when the window of opportunity is for you to alter things.

Manx gp again next year. Stopping at a new campsite for us as you go pass kirk Michael petrol station plus many bike meets up and down country I marshalled there this year. It was a difficult one as just after the nasty incident had happened. Good place to watch and the marquee has a great kitchen there & super friendly. Birkin's bend down to Rhencullen is a cracking bit of the TT course & the local marshals there were really good - that's true of everywhere actually.

We should definitely have a Manx GP meet up folks - what do you all reckon? There’s normally a few folks on lc’s but I don’t think that many on here. Alex is coming for the first time so it would be good to meet up. The coffee shack in Ramsey is great and it would be good to see a few lc’s parked up on the square. I might just might also take the Greeves over as well. We always use a van means no hassle getting there plus take multiple bikes and someone is also a nominated driver.

I'd like to have my LC there, but don't really fancy riding up to Liverpool. Same goes with the EXUP as it is brutally uncomfortable..

Just tried to alter my TT ferry dates to the Manx with car/trailer - no joy... So I will probably just take the GS Adventure and if you have room for an LC in the van do let me know!

That’s exactly why we take the van we rode a couple of times got caught in Down pours on the way and back takes away the pleasure. We use a van and a trailer. 3 bods maybe 4 bikes. 🏍️

I’m back again this year. We are looking at doing some of the European classic road race rounds. Unfortunately don’t have the time to do any of the big European trips I used to. Very sorry for the late reply as only just found this thread. Not entirly sure exactly what were doing 2024 as yet But I did chat with Robbie (Team owner this afternoon) So looks like its the TT and the Manx as usual but not sure on the riders as yet plus a few Scarborough meetings, not sure I really want to go back to the Southern 100 after the horiffic accident which one of our riders was involved in Many Thanks for chatting with me at Manx about it" Veg" as it really helped sort my head out. Also Mallory Park Festival so hopefully taking Beatrice (Bimota & Mermaid Spondon 500) As for the Manx, Up until 2019 it was fabulous and I think better than the TT (thats its just me) Less pressure on riders as schedule was more relaxed also for public so they can go to other events on the Island. Plus the public could apply for a closed roads Parade Lap Speed controlled by Travling Marshals with all sorts of bikes taking part. Previously it used to be practice then qualiying but now its qualifying from the start so newcombers are put under a lot of pressure to get the required time/speed as some TT rider are also in these races so makes it tough for newcomber now It was Classic TT with big names for the top races firday to Monday then Manx for the rest of the week. Cancelling the Newcomers race was a disaster, also No award for newcombers So I Got our rider Andy Skov USA a printed mug he was made up
He also beat his 2 riding tutors very experienced racers on the TT course and he got a Bronze replica. I think the change in format to a long weekend of racing dosent work for competitors and teams ( but might be better for public? I would like to hear your comments) as we only got one day off in 2 weeks so everyone is very tired especially marshalls, and without them their wouldnt be any racing. Organisers have been lucky with weather as theirs no contigency for bad weather so a few races were shortened which was a joke This also impacts on Jurby Festival As the racing now finishes Monday its makes no difference for us as we cant get off the Island until Thursday Friday as not enough ferry places, but Douglas on Tuesady is tumble weed with not many places open. I would like a return to the previous format as we had a mix of Top racers and the amateurs
All our 4 riders returned safe and sound.
As for a meet up, I would love to see you guys but will depend on bikes behaving ! However you are all more than welcome to come to the workshop in the Paddock for a chat no worries. Hope I didnt bore you too much with the reply Veg. I Hope you all Have a very Happy and Healthy New Year Best regards Johnny C PS sorry for spelling I give up !

Johnny It’s always a pleasure mate. Loved chatting and spending time with you and the lads. Here’s to another one, hope for safe and entertaining racing. Oh and the replacement of the one who shouldn’t be named ( not for any other reason than he’s a complete c**k womble).

If you are off to Santander... Does a couple of trips to Nat West count? The only reason we're going is they have closed all their branches nearby. Bit of an inconvenience to be honest
