It's a bit of a bugbear of mine going to a cafe for a coffee and it's feckin luke warm ! Today went to a new cafe with the Missus and little'n. Coffee came ,tepid 🙄 (The Missus had asked for it to be super hot when she ordered it aswell.)
They apologised and said they would do us another that came and was exactly the same ! Missus said don't say anything! But couldn't help it LOL
But this time there were no apologies and they said the machine can only make it so hot ,then I said just put it in the microwave then which the reply was we aren't allowed to and people liked their coffee like that and no one had complained before ffs !
So people all like luke warm coffee then ? I asked

It should not be lukewarm. One problem is, that they dont warm the cups up, they should do. And sometimes they dont bother with a temp probe in the milk being heated. I always pre warm my cups/glasses first making a coffee at home.
Lukewarm coffe is on a par with being served hot food on a cold plate..... incompetence. And at £3 plus per coffee .... no pigging excuse.....

The Mrs is always complaining about her coffees being not nearly hot enough. So you're not alone. That said she can drink it much hotter than I can. Maybe it's a HSE thing? Wouldn't want you to burn yourself.

I’ve a similar bugbear - I’m not a big fan of coffee; I drink tea and it’s never any good in a coffee place.
There’s a reason for all this though:
If you infuse coffee with boiling water it scorches it and you get bitter coffee. A good temperature is about 90-95 degrees Celsius.
The ‘pull’ should take 20-30 seconds, depending on grind and water pressure. Glasses / cups must be warm - it’s why they’re often on top of the machine.
Milk if used has to be done per order and not held to ensure everything is as close to the coffee temperature as possible.
Tea on the other hand must be brewed with boiling water else it won’t infuse which is why hot water out of a coffee machine is no good.

My partner always insists on very hot coffee whenever we go to a cafe or whatever, personally I am not a great coffee lover and it doesn't bother me how hot or "cold" it is.
Although we are not a particularly litigious country compared to the US, I remember some woman suing McDonalds for receiving severe burns after spilling a very hot cup of coffee on herself some years ago. I wonder if somehow this had affected coffee machines and overall safety. Just a thought as I think this woman received quite a big payout after the case went to court.

When wetherspoons stopped doing coffee from behind the counter to the machines the other side their temperature for the coffee plummeted. It's boll9x though isn't it 😕

What if you're having something like grilled pork steaks with a Mediterranean marinade with salad? Hot or cold plate? These are the sort of things that keep me awake.

Being a life long salad dodger I've never seen that scenario 😋
Also not familiar with that "Mediterranean marinade" mentioned
Thought we got rid of most of that muck when we left the EU 🤔

Hot plate. The salad is just there for a garnish, you dont actually eat that. Its like posh fish n chips, you get a sprig of parsley on the side... are people eating that?

You can burn an acre of rain forest or fly your private jet a full circumference of the Earth (presuming you think the Earth has a circumference, across and then back if not) in exchange for riding a bicycle bike for two miles as long as it's being filmed by a TV crew. Asda have replaced most of the Mediterranean muck for much more non EU muck now.

Maybe not surprisingly I have actually tried eating the parsley sprig and it is disgusting. That's mainly because I'm a Yorkshireman and what I say is "I paid for it, I'm eating it"

They fry in veg oil on this side of the border, the only thing fish and chips should be fried in is.....dripping.
