My f2 hybrid has a nasty dent to clear the side stand,lomas pipes, it really irratates me Id like it blowing out and maybe relocate the spring to the front of the stand So whos best to send my pipe to? And has any one relocated the spring? Surely it got to look better?

I have had great success with filling the pipe with water, (remove cans and baffles or don't fill it quite so full) plug the head pipe end with a rubber plug and hang it up outside when the temperature is below freezing. Failing that find a mate with a walk in freezer. As cold as it gets in the UK that should be easy. Ice is approximately 18% greater by volume than water. Pour yourself an adult beverage if you are so inclined and make camp near the pipe. Sip on the beverage and check the pipe often. As soon as the dent pops bring it inside and start thawing so you don't split a seam. I have done several severely mashed expansion chambers and have had great results and the only expense incurred is the rubber plug.

Methinks if I tried this, the pipes would rust to pieces if left outside in this damp shite hole where I live..... It sounds a brilliant way to fix dents though , be easy in BC or somewhere similar!

could you not just block the pipe up and rev the bike up so it blows the dent out ? That won't work. The engine will choke and cut out before any significant pressure builds up..

Why do we assume that the ice will know that its the dent that needs popping out and not a straightening of a bend or billowing some other part that is designed that way?
Steel in the flat is weak, bent steel is strong. ice will find the path of least resistance and go for the parts it can flex outward, not choose the strong elements... wouldnt it?
I believe thats why people heat things, that provides a weak spot for the pressure to relieve itself.
Ive seen a few scary old dirt bike tanks that had air blown into them that became butterflies and didnt pump the dent out, cos the least resistance was to undo the work of the stamping machine, not the woirk of the kneecap of the rider...

Possibly a car repair business might be able to help if they have a dent puller. The surface would need to be cleaned off though as the dent puller welds itself to the bare metal and then a slide hammer gently pulls out the dent.
Check something like YouTube to see what's involved.

I`ve done the ice method on two dirt bike pipes , large dents in curved sections pushed out ok , and some minor dents where also reduced. I doubt this method (ice) would work as well on factory road bike exhausts like on LCs. The pressure method did remove a knee dent in my DT175MX tank , but it did start to become a butterfly and no longer had flat sides. The butterfly issue was easily rectified, and it held a bit more fuel afterwards as a bonus
