I have always used these people ctc-powder-coating.co.uk/ They are in Maldon Essex, but I find it a reasonable enough trip from Central London as they provide a very good service. They restored the front wheel of my LC to its original spec but did not polish the rims as I wanted a totally original look. Prices are decent in my opinion.

Jamie will do the powdercoating Alex, but not the polishing I'm afraid. A few members have used the guys in Maldon, with good results

I'm guessing they are behind "Placito's", looking at the map on their website. Certainly looks promising from their page

Can the Maldon guys recut the spokes leaving the machine marks ? When I had mine done and what they did was powdercoat the wheel and then just rub off the coating from the spokes and then bake it and then clear coat it and bake it again. So there was no need to recut the spokes and they only blasted off the old black coating on the wheels. Therefore if you want a non polished and original looking finish these people can do the job and keep them looking like original. It's been a while since I have used them but did not realise they did not open at weekends now. Having just written that this is what their website states. "If you can’t make a weekday visit, we will be happy to see you Saturday morning Open Saturday mornings by appointment only 10 am to 12 noon"

I'm afraid the guys in Chertsey will be a non starter Mark. I popped in there today as I was in Laleham. No one there at the time who knew about the powdercoating side of the business, but they did ring me back this afternoon. They can only diamond cut car wheels - they have no way of securing bike wheels to their lathe. I also asked about powdercoating in general, and sounds like they would struggle with a frame - the blast cabinet would only take a 22" wheel maximum, so although the website says bike frames, the reality is they probably couldn't do one. There is also DeCorrosion in Shepperton, but there have been issues with the quality of their work in the past I believe, plus they dont do polishing or diamond cutting as far as I know. Maldon is looking your best bet for what you require I think. Dusty

Thanks Dusty, thats a shame as it would have be good to have someone local, i was going to pop over there but got involved with DT carburation , so of to Maldon for the wheels, i didnt know decorrosion were still going? i think if im going to go to Maldon i best strip the RS100 and get that done at the same time Mark

Yes...avoid Decorrosion. They are great at blasting paint off cars. Not so great at bike frames and the last time they did one for me the powder coat started blistering. Underneath it was red paint so they hadn't even blasted it properly. Shame, as Luke, the owner, is a great lad.
