Is it possible to register a 1960’s trials bike? It has a frame number was built for competition and has never been registered. I assume I’d need a dating letter from the appropriate members club fill in the paperwork? Thanks

If it has a vin and you can get an approved dating letter you should be able to register it
There may be a discussion around HMRC/NOVA but if always UK it should be manageable
Plenty of IT/YZ etc on the road

Thought so Steve it’s always been Uk and it’s a British bike and it has a vin I’ll contact the owners club.

As I understand it, there are several things you need for a V5. Dating letter and MOT as a minimum. However you may need a vehicle inspection (different from an MOT) and either an original bill of sale for a UK bike or a NOVA certificate for an import. If it's an import you will probably need the original bill of sale from abroad.
But basically if you make it all up and it's all reasonable & consistent the DVLA will give you a V5
