I just purchased some new brake pads to put on my car.
I thought I would get some half decent ones, so purchased some Bosch ones. They came and look all good.
Just noticed on the box that they are "Made in China" WTF!!

These days it very hit and miss with virtually any parts you buy. There are masses of rebranded items originating from the same place. Sadly, even if they said "made in Germany", it's no longer a guarantee of good quality but it's definitely nicer to see it stamped on.
They will probably be perfectly satisfactory, the Chinese can make good quality items and having the Bosch name on them, one would hope they meet a desired quality but who knows. Good quality tools that have moved manufacturing to China can become rubbish but they sell due to the name for so long before enough people realise.

Ive always either used Pagid or bought the pads from a main dealer, although not cheap. I am wary of buying fake pads, after all you need to know they will work when called on.
There are some really cheap pads on EB with well known names on the box. Too good to be true i feel.

I always stick EBCs in the cars. Powdercoated backing plates, heat expansion slots down the middle of the pad, chamfered edges and fast bed in coating. They work pretty well too!

I use EBC as well, I haven't worn a pair out in years because they appear to separate from the backing plate well before but due to low dust, I live with it. They told me they have improved the manufacturing process to eradicate the issue, time will tell. A search will show it's quite a common problem.
I have them on the bike now with a set of shoes in reserve. Hope they don't collapse 🙁

Textar premium pads are good if you need a reasonably priced performance option. Standard on lots of Pork and work really well.
I've had a few EBC pads work well, others disintegrate, so don't bother with them.

Avoid Greenstuff pads. Expensive and useless. Had them in the Spitfire and they were new. Brakes almost non-existent. Plonked in Mintex ones and they are a revelation.

Alex Avoid EBC RedStuff if not doing track work... they need to heat up, the few seconds that takes on the motorway fast lane is disconcerting to say the least when what you really want is some braking. I swapped those for good old mintex as well lol So many grades of pads really. Avoid the cheap crap tho, its a false economy.
