Went to insure my daughters car today, went through all the questions etc… but they said there was an issue with my license- I said it’s clean they said different, they directed me to the gov.co website and talked me through it and it would appear I was given 6 points and an £80 fine last year for driving with no insurance.
This is the first I’ve heard about it, definitely not me, anybody else had this issue? guess I will have ring the DVLA Monday probably won’t be able to speak to a human, really stressed me out today.

Didn't know you could get this sort of info off the DVLA site.
Scary how these things can happen without you knowing anything.

Don't know if this is the same number you phone, but every time I have called I speak to a human, haven't called it in around 2 years though.
0300 790 6802
And if your nice to them, then they are nice to you, be submissive and they'll help you, go in f ing and blinding and then you're in for a nightmare.

Think it's the same as when we have to share our licenses at work to prove how "clean" it is Same as with getting a courtesy car, you get a one time code of it to share with whoever is asking Steve

If you have any other cars bikes insured it's a big problem you don't want them saying you have not declared points and your insurance is void that would be a nightmare hope you get it sorted

Not related to a lack of sorn is it? If a vehicle isn’t on SORN then by default it’s ‘on the road’…. If it’s ‘on the road’ but not on MID then it’s an uninsured vehicle that’s on the road…

If it’s ‘on the road’ but not on MID then it’s an uninsured vehicle that’s on the road… I considered that, especially since people have taxed historic vehicles, they don't always realise they need to SORN when the insurance expires and it flags up as you say. The thing that made me question that was the fine, I would expect they would have been in contact about payment/ non payment but you never know.

Think I have it sorted, had to ring the court via DVLA, they basically admitted it was a clerical error, so fingers crossed they are removed over the next few days.
Scary thing is if my daughters insurance company hadn’t flagged it I would never of known, as you don’t need to send your license off for them to add the points - like the old paper ones.
Check your license through the gov.co.uk website !

Thats great news m8.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll check mine its not like I use it often so more likely id not know about any points.
EDITED: Checked, no points. Phew.
Also... its worth reminding people that for a while DVLA were randomly dropping motorcycle entitlement for no reason so always make sure its still on your licence.
