Now that I've got the bike actually running, I can see that the front wheel is all over the place. Probably about 15-20mm of buckling, if not more. Anyone had any experience of getting a wheel straightened? Using something like these people. They talk the talk.

Motoliner could be good shout for an expensive exotic wheel… but the £70 quoted on their site would more than buy you a new wheel…

One of the many things common on a 250 and 350 LC is the front wheel.
These can be picked up dirt cheap.

Here's an old wives tale.
I remember a tale that you could freeze the wheel and the buckle was said to come out.
Don,t know if it works, but maybe Worth a try, nothing to loose.

An experiment for mythbusters I think…. Can think of some pseudo/real science that could explain… but probably there are degrees of success ( excuse the pun) depending on the extent of the buckle… 15mm of run out is a country mile… assuming it’s all the rim and not tyre related..

A few years back I purchased a set of 250LC wheels via eBay at £0.99P each!! I imagine Motoliner Maidstone might well be able to do the job but with an LC wheel there must be cheaper alternatives.
By comparison a set of secondhand Marchesini wheels for a Ducati 748/998 now easily sells for £500 plus per set, now I can imagine paying for one of those to be straightened due to the cost and rarity, but I feel, for me at least, that an LC wheel can not be worth that sort of expenditure. If it had to be so, it would be my last avenue (of hope!)

Isn’t it funny? Some LC parts are expensive like uncut number plate holders, uncut rear indicator brackets and centre stands. Then others are cheap such as front wheels.

I'm a bit wary about just buying another wheel in case it's also buckled. The disk is also warped, and they seem to be more expensive than wheels.

I have used Motoliner several times for wheels and frames and highly recommend them, or just buy another wheel but as you say, will that be straight?

As above I also highly recommend them, I used Motoliner to straighten the magnesium front wheel when restoring my Bimota YB3 a few years ago. They also checked and strainghtened a slight fault in the discs (race bikes had a very hard life) Also advised that when fitting tyre to take great care as the wheel was one of the softest hes ever worked on, Top man!
I hope that helps
Best regards Johnny C.

Couple of other points - the wheel has brand new bearings which I'd want to buy for a new wheel is like. Also if I bought one I'd end up with a buckled wheel sitting in the garage. I'd hate to chuck it away and no one is going to want it buckled, so I'd probably end up getting it straightened anyway. As wheel straightening seems to be a legit process I think it's the way to go.

I'd buy a new SH wheel and use the old one as garage art. If the bearings pop out ok and are re-usable, then happy days, but a pair of front wheels bearings are pretty cheap so not a big concern.

Hmm... bearings are cheap, dont reuse...
You could take a method of spinning the wheel (balancer is best but you could use a shaft and something to hold it, b&d workmate?) along when you buy another wheel to test it before you part with cash.

Keep your eyes on these 276072042882 ebay They look a bit grim. The rear one has a big ding in the rim and the front has been welded.

I spotted it because I've got a virtually identical one on my wheel.

Judging by the paint job I would say that was paint on front wheel, just a blob As for rear wheel, yes I see now But you only want a front and this has discs too, I would send a message asking if it's paint or welding and ask if it's straight.
