One of the projects I've been working on for a good while is some straight cut primary gears with a 2.52 ratio, best you can buy is a 2.65/2.67, but they just don't give you the reduction you need to use better front and rear sprocket combinations or the higher speeds if you don't want to rev the tits out of your engine (stock gearing at 10k rpm is approx 125mph, 144mph with this setup)
Anyway, I've made a test setup which also have needle rollers instead of the sintered bush in the middle, this also means I've made the kick starter gear etc and also a suitable oil pump gear which over drives the pump which is good for bigger CC engines
The kit will comprise of 2 new primary gears (straight cut) with 2.52 ratio, kick starter gear, needle rollers and gearbox shaft bearing roller and the oil pump gear, all made in the UK, and to the correct hardness and tensile strength
I am going to be having 20 sets made, its not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but if anybody is interested let me know as I doubt I'll be having anymore made after this
Indicative cost for this lot will be £750 inc vat
These will fit all of the RD LC, YPVS and air cooled range of engines and of course will take a stock clutch basket, or an 8 plate basket etc
If anybody is interested in a set let me know as they will be allocated on a 1st come 1st served basis

That's just the thing you need for a fast bike. I am using this ratio on my dry clutch set up in my 400. To be honest I didn't really like it on the road but two weeks ago I was absolutely loving the gear ratio's on the track called Mas du Clos and I was telling myself no this ratio is good.
Dave I've sent a message to a friend as he is looking for this ratio and was thinking about getting some made.

Hi Tony, where did you get the 2.52 ratio from, everyone I spoke to said only 2.65/2.67 was available or I could get a 2.36 but that is no good for water cooled engines as you can't run the water pump as the crank gear is too big
Ironically I have a 2.36 ratio that I have converted to run needle roller etc, great for top speed stuff, with the right gearing I can have a bike do 175mph ! if it would pull it that is !

It was supplied by the man who made the dry clutch for me. I called him George the Greek. Most parts were OK and some parts were a bit wonky and had to get them made again in the Czech Republic. I will send you a pm for a little more info about your primaries as I'm very interested.
I think I worked it out as 2.53 For example on the same track the 443 was geared for approximately 135 mph and when driven with full throttle I couldn't change gear fast enough in the top gears and was thinking I need that dry clutch fitted and a quick shifter. I embarassed a big Vtwin and got black flagged for noise, but that's another story
