Hi all, OK, so no-one seems interested in my Kenny Roberts F2 at the moment, so I might sell my LC hybrid instead. Trouble is I’m more unsure of value on this one. It’s similar to my original build thread rdlccrazy.proboards.com/post/155509/thread but with the exception of a few bits removed for my latest LC hybrid (Nitron, number plate holder, one off centre stand, Guiliari seat). I’ve replaced these bits with powder coated standard shock, stainless recessed number tail light and number plate bracket, OEM stand and RZ seat. The pipes and stand are off presently as I’m going to be painting the stand to match the frame. I’ll take pictures once it’s all back together. I won’t break this one as such either, but would sell cheaper without centre stand and/or Allspeeds for this that have/want something different. I was thinking maybe £5k, but don’t know if that’s realistic in todays market. I don’t want to overprice it and get no interest. What do people think? p.s some on here have seen this bike in the flesh. Jon

Jon honestly I believe £5k is far to cheap. If it was mine I’d advertise it on eBay with a reserve of what you are happy with and see what it goes for. That should show you what the market will stand. I would have thought a good special is going for circa £7k I could be wrong be interested to see what the lads say.

It's hard to gauge the market at the moment and the problem you have with ebay is that anyone buying it doesn't know you, so they'll want to factor in a bit of risk money in case it turns out to need work. I always read your threads on here and I know anything you've put your hands to would be well sorted, so I think it's 'worth' £5k all day long, but not everyone will know that.
Plus you have to deal with ebay halfwits.

The best price is going to come from that one guy who just loves it, has all his boxes ticked and has little in the way of ability to create something like that for himself. In this instance, assuming they have good deep pockets, the heart can rule the brain. A trader would just start by considering the pedigree of the core bike , as that will still influence the value significantly. It’s very much a case of sum of the parts less a percentage. Then of course there is the time of year… beginning of September is not best .

As Pete says above, find the guy that absolutely thinks your bike is the dogs bollox, cannot build it him/her self, and that raises the price to another level.
It's not simple to guage prices of older, hybridised bikes, buyers market which often indicates lower prices, does not compute in that case.

My personal opinion is the same with any bike, especially older ones, It is worth what someone is prepared to pay... I also believe there are 3 types of buyer. 1. The investment buyer, not particularly interested in the bike/model etc usually looking for a mint matching numbers original or perfectly restored bike that they can expect an increase in its value over time. Try's to buy as cheaply as possible. 2. The heart strings buyer, someone who never managed to own one in their youth but really wanted one, now has the ability to satisfy their dreams. Usually looking for a nice original example. May pay a bit more for the "Right bike". 3. The rest, looking for a project, or a nice restored bike perhaps not perfect but that they can perfect or personalise how they want it, knows the market, done their homework and probably had one or two in the past, willing to pay what it's worth and usually realistic about prices. In this group I also add in the people that are looking for something different, perhaps as an addition or because they can't do it themselves for whatever reason. This to me is where the Hybrid marketplace is, not everyone wants a "Standard matching numbers bike". Some are looking for something different enough to stand out from the crowd, a bike that draws a crowd wherever it is.
For me a well written sales article, documenting what it is, has been done to it, what it has fitted to it to make it a hybrid will sell the bike. I've sold numerous hybrids of many types over the years and have made fair returns on them. The sales article generates the interest. I'd try a facebook marketplace advert, its free to do and you'll gauge interest by it at the price you advertise it at.

So it's a 350? I'd say between £7 and £8k but not right now. It's getting towards the wrong time of year and it's a buyers market at the mo. If you can afford to keep it maybe sell next year?

Keeping it till next year is a gamble too as the economy may not get any better. It may be that next year 5k/6k was a good price to take now.Oh to have a crystal ball
