I've been trying to resolve some carb issues with mixed success and, for the first time, noticed that the r/h carb appears to be missing the small brass tube, next to the pilot jet. Pic shows r/h carb on the left and the l/h carb on the right, which has the tube. Does anyone know what it does and whether that tube should be there on the right carb?

Thanks 👍do you know the impact of having one carb without the brass tube? I have been experiencing dripping carbs, (i am as certain as I can be the float heights are correct and have replaced the float valves and seats twice trying to resolve this) I am also experiencing some hesitation in the mid range, could it contribute to those symptoms?

Only the left carb has a choke
It is linked over to the right by the centre link tube

Thanks Steve, so the good news is this is nothing for me to worry about and the bad news is I still need to keep chasing my original problem 🙃

Did you take out the brass balls before cleaning? These can clog up and result in poor running.

I removed the brass ball, then tapped it for a m5 brass grub screw

No I haven't been brave enough to get the drill out yet but I better get on with it. I like your solution with the screw in plugs, very neat and saves having to ever drill them out again
