Hi All I am trying to find out what's a fair price for the following bike/project, I have three options 1. restore the bike 2. sell it as a project 3. part it out The bike is a 1982 LC350 matching numbers and 3x former owners before me (V5 in my name) I have pulled the barrels off to check pistons and all good on standard bore and very good condition (could use again) Have not checked to see if every part is there but do know the following is : Frame and engine wiring harness (also have NOS one) Tank and panels (would need painting) Swing arm Rear subframe and plastic guards Chain Guard Center stand Clocks (12,000 miles on them) could be right ? Wheels handle bars and switch gear Rad & Guard Headlight Forks and yokes (look good no pitting) Seat Coils and cover battery box & tool tray Carbs Standard Exhausts loads of original nuts and bolts (all rusty) Think only the indicators are missing, have added some quick photos Alan 20230818_200246_resized by alan foster, on Flickr [url=https://www.flickr.com/gp/147350637@N04/0g0CT2u8k9 BBCode [/url] 20230818_200302_resized by alan foster, on Flickr BBCode 20230818_200334_resized by alan foster, on Flickr BBCode 20230818_200429_resized by alan foster, 20230818_200310_resized by alan foster, on Flickron 20230818_200317_resized by alan foster, on FlickrFlickr

Alan and interesting quandary mate. If you have the time I'd rebuild it. Selling it as a job lot would yield maybe £3-4k and it'd be money straight in the bank. Selling as parts will get you more money for sure but could take a while and you'd probably be left with a lot of parts that are hard to shift. Selling on here could be a problem as everyone trades in Curly Wurlys.
Alex
ps just kidding. Selling on here is a good option

no mention of exhausts ? I have a box of curly wurlys if interested in a swap as well........ I think ball park £3k to £4k is probably about right in the current climate, although I am normally crap at valuing things !

The dilemma I detect and have resonance with, is that if the end objective is to sell, Then why spend your time restoring when what you get in the end will be no different from if you just sold now as a project or as parts.. except you’ll have an extra 200 hours in you life to do something useful with….like actually go out and ride or work on a project you want to keep… Of course if you don’t already have a matching 4L0 in the stable and would keep it if done , then crack on this instant!

Dave yes standard exhausts are there lol Its not doing any harm just sitting there, my problem is time as Iam just starting a Hybrid build and not sure what to do with it ?however I do like curly wurlys lol Think most parts are there TBH

Alan, I think this all depends on how many LCs you want. If just the one hybrid will suffice, then sure, sell the other one. I'm happy with just the one. Some on here think that's ridiculous and the more the merrier. If you do sell it try here first as I can vouch for your stuff as it's exactly as described, and I was very happy.

Alex my Hybrid will make it 3x LCs for me, hence why I might sell it Buddy

3 is ridiculous Alan, 4 is the magic number! Its always hard to know what to do, it looks a good set of parts and a nice project. I'd build it, but then I'd do it cos I love building them and I'd like to see if 5 is better than 4... hmm...

Reading between the lines this is not a keeper even if you did build it up?
As mentioned to do so just to sell it is not going to work as you’ll never get back what you put in in terms of money and time. I know as there’s not been a sniff on my F2 for sale on here and when I think of the hours and parts spent on that it’s worth way more than asking price.
I’d attempt to sell as a project on here first. That way you’re not stuck with parts.
Breaking is the next option if no interest. Though it can be a ball ache packaging and posting many parts.

The current market with selling bikes is very much a buyers market. Its difficult to sell anything unless it is ultra rare or you are basically giving it away and then its still hard. Probably best to sell as a project on ebay with a starting price of what you would be happy to take.

As per a few others, I would rebuild it, but I only have one LC! but I do have three Ducati's and each one of these is a different build. I reached a point once where I had so many Ducati spares I built a complete bike for about £3,000, which is pretty cheap and it goes very well after being dynoed.
If you don't enjoy the build process then I think selling as a project would be a good tradeoff.
The price of LC parts does seem quite high to me as someone who has not purchased many parts in the last few years. Having said that the price of new Suzuki RGV250 spares seems quite unbelievable.

Hi Alan, Hope all is well mate Prices for parts seem to be all over the place at the mo. Nice frame, already powdercoated, went for 400 quid here this week - seems cheap compared to what some frames have been going for recently. Then there is a nice Lc rear mudguard on ebay, with bids, for £237 at the mo !! Airboxes advertised for over 200 quid !! Who knows what the plastics end up selling for, but prices for parts are mad, and prices for built bikes definitely aren't what they were, and a lot of bikes seem to be advertised at more realistic prices compared to say 2 years ago. The maximum value, if selling, is as complete as possible I think. We are always encouraging people to buy complete if they can, and I would wholeheartedly agree with that. It's not project season yet though, so I would hold onto it until the dark evenings are here and peeps have nothing else to do Just my opinion of course Regards Dusty

Alan, I agree with Alex and Shaun, I’d restore this yourself, and take a view once it’s done, it’s the ideal base , matching No’s, low owners, standard bore etc. The paintwork isn’t a problem to you, so other than the usual consumables it’d be a fairly low cost to rebuild (excluding your time of course!).
It’d be a great shame to see it broken for parts imo, now matter how many curly wurly’s you’re offered!!.

I should have added if that's a genuine low mileage it should be worth rebuilding as the parts won't have much wear. My LC has only done 13,000 miles from new and the mechanical condition of all the parts is very good, I just put a new crank in when I rebuilt the engine the last time but all other parts were perfect.

Hi Dusty Yes I am all good mate, hope your doing well too ? might just keep it Ian you might be right most of it is there prob about 98% and the paint, vapour and bead blasting I can do in house so all good. My biggest problem is time so as Dusty said might just leave till later on and see how it goes before and If I put it up for sale (time being the main factor) Would be a great project for the matching number brigade lol Keep Happy

I agree with the 3K - 4K as said above if you wanted to sell it. I would keep it and build it at a later date because if you want a project in the future it is there 👍 but if you will take a packet of cookies and a few selection boxes 😁🤣
