Has anyone ever mounted a YPVS controller unit on an LC frame just behind the tank and under the seat where the little plastic holder sits?

Yep, thats where my 251LC's one is.
Ive not run this bike in anger yet so cant comment on how well the fixings I did will work, but its under the tank mount and above the shock. Tank and seat all fitted well with it fitted and jumping up n down on the bike didnt have the controller in the shocks spring... The connections fitted well there, using the stripped out PV loom from the YPVS etc.

I’ve cleaned up a few 40 year old looms, but my last one is really a bit too far gone. The wires are proving very poor connections when using a multimeter. Jon

Ive had a look and Ive not got any pics, tho i thought i did some for the forum but i think they are gone now. Next time I pull the bike out I'll do some tho for you, how soon do you need?
The YPVS controller to the servo 'loom' I simply stripped from a dead YPVS loom as it worked well, it doesnt interact with anything else at that point. Dead easy to integrate into a new loom, but agree its simple to just use the connectors and then make new cable.

I was going to crack on with the loom today and tomorrow, so probably photos will be too late. I’ll check that location on my LC. Other thought was in the tail piece? Jon

Jon i'll try, i just dont have that much time right now and the bike is a bit buried at the back of my garage as im working on other things... The tail piece just seemed 'too easy' for a neat job, but yep no hassle to put it there of course, just longer cables.

Was there plenty of room though? Jon

ok. hmm, not masses of room but it fitted in there pretty well without being forced. Its not a big space but it did seem happy enough in there and i couldnt see any huge reason not to use it so I did.
My concern was the spring, but I tried messing with the space and it seemed to not come up far enough to cause any issue.
Interested to hear what you think when you have a gander.

I tried the standard Pv controller and the Pv Cdi in an Lc tail - it will fit but it's snug and not really ideal. I nearly bought the Zeel PCDI-10VT, which combines the Cdi, ignition and Pv controller all in 1 smaller unit but as I was selling that particular bike, I didn't , and persevered with standard parts. If I did it again, I would go with the Zeel, both as an upgrade an an easier unit to hide away. And the sub loom for the Pv is simple enough. I stripped a Pv loom ages back and removed the subloom intact; 20170924_170659 by dusty miller, on Flickr hth Dusty

Yes, thats exactly what I did re the loom Dusty. The nice thing is that the PV loom is rarely messed with and taped next to the main loom, so comes out in great shape.
I didnt use the Zeel as I wanted to use the 51L CDI for the 51L engine as Yam intended. Saying that on my 421 I have a piggyback Zeel so even sans PVs I had to fit two boxes lol. I just like to make my life hard i reckon lol
