I knew he lived near me. Heard it coming down the road, and got out onto the driveway just as he went past. Looked and sounded awesome 20230812_160214 by dusty miller, on Flickr Sanders and Lewis framed Gt750. He had temp fitted a 3 into 1 to try and locate a small oil leak- the Gibsons usually fitted block his view underneath the engine whereas the 3 into 1 doesn't. Gets ridden on trackdays mainly, and Box Hill, but it's going to the Manx in a couple of weeks time. I love it !!

That looks fabulous. It won't go that well with the 3 into 1 on it, mine was pants on one but sounded fantastic,

Hi Andy Yea, he knows it wont be great but it allows more access to try and locate an oil weep showing under the engine. I love bikes like this. I knew it existed but I have never met the owner before. He has another 3 Gt's in the garage !

That GT 750 is excellentπ Has he got more 750's or other GT model's? I have a mate that has got one in Heron suzuki colours with a Dunstall fairing on it he has had it in bits for other 30 years longer than I have been around π

Gt750's, standard I believe. An interesting thing the owner said whilst we were chatting was that he had spoken with someone who had offered to make a frame for a spare Gt engine he has. Turns out it's Dresda, who have now taken over a unit a couple of miles away from me. I think Dave Degens has retired now, but the firm is still building bikes it would seem

Think they have recently moved into a unit near the old Jack Lilley's/ Bendy Toys site. Think they have been localish before though. I went to the roof fire in Dave Degens house many years back, near the "Peggy Bedford" at Heathrow (Harmonsworth), probably late 80's. Only realised the connection when we were salvaging all his race trophies from the dining room.

Good grief. The Peggy...I have tales about that place! When I worked for DHL that pub was on a short cut back home, so I always paused there for a small shandy. Well, maybe not lol. I might go have a look at this Dresda place. I'm sure they used to do old English bikes and maybe Hondas too?

Probably most famous for the Dresda Tritons, but yes, others too. I had an original Dresda box section steel swinging arm for an Rd400 back in the mid 80's - that's how I knew the name. It's useful having a firm like that nearby, but I still think Steve over at Feltham will be the fella to see if you need mods done on your yoke Dusty

Used to be on Putney Bridge road down the road from my dads old shop fitting place before he left London. The old man had a 1960 T120 at the time and listed after one.

Did a little research. Sanders and Lewis were the retailers. The frame is by Nico Bakker apparently. Engine has a Nova reedvalve conversion and bigger carbs too. No room for the electric start now so kick-start only

Didnβt sanders and Lewis also retail dunstall gs1000βs? Seem to remember they used to do big double page adds. Bakker frame makes sense.

Not sure Tim ? There isn't a huge amount of info, though I haven't dug too deep if I'm honest. Did just find this; Who or what is/are Sanders and Lewis, a music hall comedy duo?! No, it was a well known bike shop in Kilburn Road, Maida Vale, London NW6 way back when. From articles in magazines I've come across the story seems to go something like this. They used to sponsor a Yamaha powered Nico Bakker framed machine in the late 70's, ridden by Tony Lewis . The frame used was once ridden by Phil Read. The Bakker frame was so good (but expensive!) they decided to build a replica for the street racers amongst their customers based around a GT750 engine. The frame was built by a local company, Saxon Engineering and after some time in development the launch took place around end of 1977. Unfortunately both companies are no longer in business so no facts can be ascertained 'from the horses mouth'. Not sure if that is Nigel Hill's Saxon Engineering that was based in Cobham, Surrey ? If so, Saxon were tasked with copying the Bakker design. sanders_and_lewis_32 by dusty miller, on Flickr

It's a bungalow so better for my knackered legs. Garage is a bit bigger (tall enough for a storage mezzanine) and integral so hopefully not the damp refrigerator like detached one I have just now Clincher is second access to levelback garden ripe for a very large workshop to be built I think there is a kitchen somewhere in the house, wasn't too concerned about that π Steve
