Should be in English?,either the chainguard has been replaced or it's not a UK bike ? A lot can happen in 38 years .My N1 is a UK bike as far as I know but you can never be 100% sure

I knew the one I did was uk as only had 2 owners and the old V5 so their addresses and dates were on it
Still had the Glasgow supplying dealers reg plate on it
The grey area is that the usual euro differences weren't on the n/f

Could be exactly that a replacement chain guard, Iβd be a little mindful though as it doesnβt look new and spangly

The frame ID plate is in German. It looks pretty decent to me.

I can understand the vin tag maybe but why would it be in German throughout all the Euro countries unless was only an actual German regulation and they were all made to one spec
The chaingaurd decal is a different kettle of fish as new chain guards don't come with a decal so unless they bought a used German one

DVLA show date of first registration as September 85, so perhapps the german frame tag means it was a grey import in 85?

Bits of it have been changed so anything could have been replaced
Looks a decent enough start to a project. Only the V5 will prove when it was reg'd in the UK

No German rear muddy though so why change that
May just be they were all German tagged

Given the reg date and the fact its no 782 made, uk headlight, UK muddy etc it sounds legit as UK bike

Personally I don't mind imports myself but obviously it does affect pricing, but hey I know one thing for sure they were all made in Japan π

Thanks chaps I was looking as I do like an N1/2 π Guess this is always the problem with old bikes som many bits transferable. Mine is an import so Iβm not averse to them as you say liffy all built in the same factory.

Could be exactly that a replacement chain guard, Iβd be a little mindful though as it doesnβt look new and spangly When I go to Germany, usually 3-4 times a year I buy a lot of parts from a breaker in Hannover for various bikes, I send him lists of parts, bikes etc I'm interested in. Quite a lot have been RD LC and YPVS parts and over the years I've sold a lot on e bay at fair prices to help people, that chainguard may well be one I've sold as I try to buy good/excellent condition parts for both my own use and to sell on to help cover the cost of my trips out there. Sometimes I come back with a van full of various boxes of parts and a bike or two, other times it is very little and over the last year or so since covid the pickings have been quite grim.

Yes but it may have been built on the uplit sunny lands of the Uk line or alternatively the dark and depressing euro production line in the same factory ππ
