Hi I'm.currently looking at buying a 250LC a friend has just been to see it ...now I'm going at the weekend, with a van.
So, before I buy..is there anything I should be aware of? I mean LC specific 4l1 Frame and engine numbers match and engine number is on a serrated background, so not modified It looks pukka pretty much standard, runs well it seems... anything that should put me off?
Thanks in advance

Make sure the exhausts are not 4L2 restricted type (first digits of marked part no half way down exhaust), and that the carbs are not restricted 4L2 type either (marked on side of carbs) as these were fitted in Germany and a few other places.

Also check: -petrol tank not rusting/pin holed on underside -centre stand fitted (typ £300 these days) -rear mudguard nor number plate not cut nor holed (again expensive to replace) -coil cover fitted (often lost) -tool tray under seat in situ (again expensive) -rear indicator bar/sub-frame in tact (expensive) -is the frame straight (often crashed), run eye or plank of wood along wheel line, check that the front wheel hasn't pushed back and closer to radiator than should be -paintwork ok, again expensive -has engine been rebuilt in recent years? any documentation or receipts to back it up. Should be with gen Yam seals/bearings/parts.
Obviously general condition, how it starts and runs etc. its all down to price as most things can be sorted with time, effort and bag of cash!
Good luck with it.

Where in the world are you ? Maybe a local member would go have a look for you and give a genuine appraisal on the bike. Plenty of guys on here that know these inside out Dusty
