Love it convicted drunk and drug fuelled driver journalist complains about bikes legally filtering oops. I never knew there was actually a legal limit for cocaine in the bloodstream....... The Mail reports that she was found to be over the legal drug-drive limit, and three wraps of cocaine were found in the passenger footwell.
A subsequent blood test found her to have 13ugl of cocaine, over the legal limit of 10ugl.

Unfit through drink or drugs then tested, the constituents of some prescribed drugs will have the same active ingredients as some illegal substances. That’s why I think there is a limit. This is all from memory as I was never a yellow backed rat or a custody sgt.

The police can do a drug wipe at the side of the road. Takes 8 minutes and can detect cocaine and grass too. If they ever invent one for espresso then I'm in deep trouble.

We had a zero tolerance for drink and drugs on the railway.
Any incident, all involved could be tested, and random testing would take place.
Once selected, you were chaperoned until test completed, if you failed, immediately walked off site and you were gone.
Drink was less than the driving threshold.
Wasn't worth the risk .

Alex Lol, yes. lets hope that doesnt happen! Re the drug tests; been doing them here for a decade or more now, its a scrape of the tongue i think. Ive never had one, but been breath tested a lot... they site the breath test at the top of my driveway as there is a layby there and it can be a right pain to get in and out when they are there.

You’ll be tested over here after a Rtc, the random stop ones you have to consent to unless they have reasonable cause to suspect you are unfit through drink or drugs. So the roadside set up where they decide to just stop you as Jon was saying, in England and wales they need your consent and often they are a training exercise for new officers.

Interesting, no consent needed here. You have to comply. If you fail they hold you for a while and test you again and then if you fail again they (arrest you i think and) take you to the station for a more scientific test and bloods etc. at that point yer fkd ....and imho, a dickhead.

I've always been cautious about filtering in moving traffic, many times I've just said bollox to it because of the danger. But I have filtered thru stationary traffic, gap permitting. But I guess IF I was sniffing charlie (which I never have or ever will whilst being of sound mind... and all other mind bending shite excluding the imbibing of social lubrication....alcohol) I would more likely be one of those annoying said "journo" Whilst many box drivers do move to the side to give a biker extra room to filter, I have been on the receiving end of cars actually blocking my progress whilst ranting and obviously enraged.... (It's surprising how many car drivers do move to the side though! )

I've been on the receiving end of someone trying to knock me off, he then drove round a blind bend overtaking 6 cars for reasons known only to him, unfortunatly for him it was when i was in my prime and i caught him at the next set of light at which point he got out to "sort me", i battered him but he actually thought it was all my fault, nutter.
Around the same time a couple were killed by a taxi driver in the same area because they filtered past him and it pissed him off so be careful out there, the world is full of them.

We are still battling for the right to filter and split lanes here in the states.
A few states have made it legal in some abbreviated form or another (freeway only, surface streets only, only when traffic is at a standstill, etc). Only in California is it fully legal. Here in Oregon, my club, sang-froidridingclub.com, has been lobbying and pushing our reps for almost 15yrs now to get this legal. We came very close again this year, but the measure was shot down again in a final legislative vote.
Getting to be the norm tho in freeway gridlock as more riders take measures into their own hands.
Usually motorists make way for you, but there are always some uptite fcukers getting their panties in a twist over it.
Keep your eyes up, and keep moving!

I've always enjoyed filtering in Germany, where it is frowned upon.
I remember filtering past a group of riders out training on BMW RTs. They were all shaking their heads except the instructor who gave us the thumbs up.
It just makes no sense for any country to force motorcyclists to wait in line. What about cyclists ?

Filtering in NSW is only legal in stationary traffic. They do what they want, when they want... they dont bother with the rules of the road... sorry if that upsets the cyclists on here, but thats my take where i live. Ride on the path even tho its illegal, tick. treat red lights like they are optional, tick. ride the wrong way down the street, tick... the list goes on. They do have to wear a helmet here and 99% of them do that as its an easy pull by the cops otherwise.

I have a mountain bike but I'd never ride it on the road. Way too dangerous. And annoys the f**k out of everyone, especially when two of the w#*#ers ride side by side.

Followed a group of cyclists yesterday, whilst out on my KTM, running side by side through a little village, about 8 in total, most doubling up, unable to pass as cars coming the other way, approach a hump back bridge over a little river, and they stop to admire the view.

Filtering. That’s one of the joys of being on a bike, and the feelings of freedom it brings compared to the trail of human misery sat in their cages ,life ticking by…
But filtering has changed. Cars have grown wider and wider across the years… IMO that’s half the reason being on a push bike is so much more dangerous, the width of the carriageway less width of a modern car, doesn’t leave comfortable or any room for a car to pass within the white line. Didn’t used to be like that.
On the odd occasion I am that cage driver and a bike comes up the middle, I do however shake my head when a bike comes flying up the middle in a fashion that sugest they think they are making a YouTube death-race video…. That’s just not safe, not clever and creates bad press for the rest of us.
