Hi all, I’ve just noticed there are 2 different F/N2 seat bases. Maybe one is Japanese and one is Brazillian? It’s a bit had to see from the photo but the two catches are held on in a different way. One has studs in the base and then the catch is held on with nuts, the other has threaded holes in the base and the catch is held on with screws. What are the merits of either. The seat I’ve sent to be recovered has the threaded inserts. At this stage I could loctite screws in from behind to work in the same way as the studs. Jon

Both have their benefits and weaknesses
The weaknesses happen with corrosion
If the captive nuts seize you can't get into them
If the studs seize they either shear or the captive plate rots out so they just spin. Had to make new ones for my guilly as they had rotted
As long as you have left the bolts in either should be fine, don't think you will have rot issues

The amount of miles I do an in fair weather today is a fraction of what I did when 17. When bikes/scooters were your only transport they got used in all weathers for lots of miles. Jon
