If it’s a nonce he’s guilty.

It’s meant to be burglary so definitely guilty

Ok I’m going to guess what the defendant looks like, lank greasy hair, unshaven, poor body odour, rotten teeth, track marks and a serious habit, dressed in a hoody, two pairs of tracky bottoms (unless they are on remand then it’ll be a grey sweat suit). They’ll talk street and will be trembling not because they’re scared or worried but they’ll be climbing the walls. There’ll be a poor back story and after sentencing (if found guilty) you’ll hear all the pre cons ( not sure if it’s the same over the border). They’ll deny all charges until they realise they’re going down then admit any with forensics, once locked up they’ll TIC shit loads more so they don’t face further charges.

Can't recall the nature of the case as it was so long ago
Was pretty serious though, and he was drained by the end of it, judge excused the jury from doing one again.

I’ve been called up 3 times. Every case I did I and my fellow jurors thought the defendant was guilty. But in each case the prosecution was rubbish and the defence good. In one case 3 old bill consulted their note books and gave 3 different versions of the same event. FFS guys. Get your story straight. Didn’t find anybody guilty after being directed by the judge.

Simple. Tell them you now identify as a 14 years old and thus are to young for jury service. Failing that................. Unless there is film or photo evidence linking the suspect to the crime, tell them you cannot give a verdict as to their guilt or not, and take no further action (Well that was good enough for the police after the destruction of £2k of beehives even when they knew who the vandal was)

Bent system. You get called to give a verdict.................. Then are told what that verdict should be..........

Jealous, I've never been called up. Would love to get a week off work and sit around all day. Your work must be really bad ,trust me it’s torture ,your locked up for 7 hours a day you have sit in the same seat next to the same person for as long as the trial, the food is atrocious and you can’t bring your own food/drinks/sweets. and worst of all in Edinburgh the court is in the High Street which is about 200 stairs up from the train station I was needing oxygen this morning

And I don't think the "pay" is very good, or equal to your wages whilst serving.

Did get selected years ago before I managed to get permanently excused
Think I went for 3 days. 1st day got sent home, 2nd day got selected for the jury, 3rd day we all turned up and he changed his plea to guilty so we got sent home for good
If I remember correctly there was a form you got your employer to fill out stating your daily rate
I was lucky and my work forgot not to pay me so got double 🙂
