Hi all, after a very long process completing a new loom connections run into a problem with the indicators - RH side not working at all - Indicator not flash, idiot light not on, and the relay is silent - LH side is flashing front and rear - idiot lights flashing in the clocks OK and can hear the relay switching - everything else is working OK ( after loads of initial problems when I connected the 6 PIN clock connectors wrong way round ) but that for another thread - The loom is new replacement, and indicators are replacements too - ( all the indicators work on direct connection so are OK ) so I am thinking its loom connection or LH bar switch - so I am trying to eliminate loom/connections before I have a look at the bar switch - What I am stuck on is the loom has a double type connection on the indicator ( green ) and ( Brown ) and two black single connectors - so I am wondering if its just a quirk of the loom ?- as below - I have connected from front indicators - Black and White from each front Indicator , one to Green one to Brown- ( see pic below ) and single black from each indicator to black from the loom - the original loom was hacked / messed up so I have no reference - wiring diagram not show double connection on the green/brown ? I am assuming as there is double connecter on the green and brown then something else is suppose to connect ?- if not then I assume below is correct - and more likely switch problem ? Any pointers greatly appreciated -

I'd check the wiring for continuity from the bar switch with the R/H indicator switch in the on position, you should have a circuit through the switch once switched on, if you haven't which is what I suspect it could well be the switch contacts, they very likely are worn, dirty or not making contact.

Thanks - I suspect its the bar switch too - as I worked on the assumption if I had connected the indicators wrong to the loom then both sides would have problems ?- its just thrown me with the brown and green indicator wires having a double connection on them ? - I did strip the bar controls down to refurb them - but didn't pay any special attention to the contacts inside etc, I did give them a basic clean inside, but will check this weekend - many thanks, Mac.

After a very frustrating day in the garage yesterday - still got no further - so - stripped and checked the LH bar control - all seems OK inside - cleaned all the contacts - continuity checked all out puts from the switch all OK - did the same for both 6 pin blocks from the clocks - all OK Ignition on - PV cycles OK - Oil and neutral Light on OK - LH hand indicators Front and Rear - Flash at correct rate - LH idiot light on the clocks flash with them - all OK Switch to RH - Both idiot lights for indicators stay on - RH Front indicator is OFF - RH Rear indicator is Solid on , no flash - Clock illumination Lights come on See pic below - this is with the RH indicator switch in the ON position -

Disconnect the front right indicator and see if the lights that should not be on go out
Also try the indicators with the earth's connected by temp wires direct to a frame earth
It is back feeding somewhere
Check you haven't mixed up connections of the indicators with the front brake light switch wires

Thanks Steve - will try that - I went through every connector in the headlight shell to ensure correct wire-wire colour match and cant see anything where it shouldn't be - as its a new loom I have had to change some of the connectors ( to match newer block connectors on the loom ) - I think I have messed something up in that process - I have not tested the RH bar controls for continuity yet as run out of time and patience yesterday - spent yesterday focused on the LH side - also just to add further context, front brake switch is working OK - off/then on when lever pulled - the condition shown in the picture above is with the headlight switch in the OFF position - if I switch to headlight to ON - the clock illumination lights go out - like its reversed ? as you can tell- electrics not a strong skill set for me - many thanks for the suggestion though - will have a go tonight -

I'd say deffo back feeding on something
The fact the clock lights go out when lights switched on suggests something amiss between the lighting circuit and the indicator circuit

Many thanks Steve - life saver mate - really appreciate your help on this - I got it all sorted last night - as you suggested I connected the right front indicator earth direct to the earth on the coil to see what happened and got both the right hand indictors working OK - however it knocked out the neutral light and the clock illumination lights - and when I switch headlight on, was knocking out the LH indicator idiot light on the clocks - but was a great start on then trying to fix the issue - so was thinking that if by connecting to known bike earth it changed things so much then its an incorrect earth somewhere - So just to explain what I found/ did- in the hope it might help someone else here goes -
I had two single black wires in the headlight bucket that I had assumed were both good earth that I had connected the L and R indicators to as well as the dark green/dark brown connectors - after seeing the RH indicators work when earthed direct to the bike I then swapped the L and R indicators earths over - then the problem then reversed - so now LH indicators wont work - RH indicators OK - so its pointed at one of the black wires not doing what it should -
To Fix - connected both indicator earth to the known good black - not sure if this correct OR the best way to do it - (the other black I just added to the headlight earth with a double connecter) - buts its fixed the problem completely - everything works - tested every function on both bar controls and front and rear brake lights - headlights etc all working OK , all the clock lights/idiot lights working correctly - many thanks, Mac.
