Hi,
I have a set of Kawasaki KR1S carbs on my 350lc, one of the chokes is on the inside and is a pain to pull on. I there an off the shelf kit that operates both the chokes via a lever or is it ok just to use the one choke?
Cheers
Paul

The way I have always ďone it is to start on both chokes then before it revs the tits off, knock one choke off which will be the left side and this keeps the revs down I knock them off pretty quickly though once started

I just use the l/h choke, bike starts ok, and by the time Im kitted up, it's fine to pull away. If it didn't work I'd prob do the mod Steve has done.
I tried to pull the right hand choke the once, must have deformed hands, it was a faff.

I've converted to cables, using an early R6 LH switchgear, which has a somewhat nicer choke arrangement (IMO). Electrics were easy to sort as well.

If anybody has ever wondered why the switchgear has threaded holes in the bottom its where the choke lever bolts on 😉

Ive also done the same choke that Steve showed with my F1 that uses KR1S PWKs, its a neat solution and 'of the era'.
You can also use the TZR/RD500 style flip switch choke as well, tho these have got exy now as Steve has shown. I think thats cos the housings are made of some sort of cheap pot metal and maybe crack. Ive never had that, but why would they become so exy is beyond me, they used to be under twenty quid for a nice full TZR setup. I do think there must be other setups that use the same plungers tho... someone must know of a cheap one?
Anyway, I do agree that you can start and warm up on a single choke, but mechanically it has to put some extra strain on the engine I would think. Maybe its minimal, but there are dual pull options so its better to do that I would think.

On another bike I also looked at using a thumb throttle or a decomp lever for this. The decomp would have been simpler as there are loads on clutch perches, but you would still need the cables. Cheaper than the TZR/500 option tho and way cheaper than the very natty fondseca.

I just use the left choke as above. I'm always pissing around with jetting / adding mods, so no extra cables for me. When it's eventually finished, I might add the choke cables, if I can ever stop monkeying around with it

Mine Albeit bought as Brand New (unclapped :-) Keihins I only use the one Choke.. and even then; Only when it's cold out and Not the best of days to ride. Carbs are jetted a tiny bit rich (intentionally) 130 mains, 40 airs JJH needles. Zero stumbles or flat spots.. although I warm it up for 3 to 5 mins before riding off.

I've used the Fondseca choke lever, just cut the top off and bolted it through the switch gear lower.
