Just out for a last blast before winter( lc with pv engine) after about 10 around town gave it some welly up through the gears when coming back down the box there was no clutch lever right to the bars ,so i nurse it home thinking the cable had snapped, gets back to my garage pulls up and the clutch is back ! So now i have a winter project, anyone had this happen?

If your clutch mechanism is standard, it sounds like the clutch push rod or ball bearing might have spot welded itself, then came loose again.

That's a weird one 🤔
To lose the clutch like that the cable would have snap or the adjuster on the end plate would have to undo
If it then came back it is neither of those things
Only thing I've seen that would cause that is if one of the plates has shattered
They can't come out but if the clutch is pulled in the broken bits could overlap. Then the additional stack height would cause your problem
If the pop back in place it would seem normal again
Time to take the case off I think

You could be right Steve ,if ive not run it for a while the plates stick together and need some rough treatment to release them ,i had to do this today. The engine needs a makeover anyway the bare alloy looks rough now maybe try some paint

That's my dilemma with the TR. Bare alloy or ceramic coat 🤔
If you plates have been stuck it may point to them breaking up
Time for a 385 motor 😉

I've had the locknut on the pressure plate loosen off, then it wound itself in & out with vibration, giving a different clutch travel each time.
The only time I found the clear clutch cover useful, a 5 minute fix, without draining water & oil.
