To mount an LC seat without the latches? I spent a while staring up at the seat and can't clearly see a solution, though that might be down to some Jammy Red Roo.

Im going to say 'no'... not without some other kind of fixings being created at the back. It will sit 'on' the bike, but it wont stay put once you get going, and it wont be fully fitted in place for the lines/panel gaps without clicking into place etc
You could use the seat's latch mounts (the bolt stubs) and make up some L brackets (ala older bikes like the XT500) and then use something around the frame for you to put a bolt through.
I will say tho, that the older bolt on seats are a pain, I do so love the fact you can unlatch the ones on the LC/YPVS.

FWIW the LC and YPVS share the same latch other than the length of the lever... and, I reckon other Yama of the era do too. Ive been looking at latches the past week, can you tell lol.

V max latches were cheap last time I was looking, and just 'pull' to release, but they don't have a lock fitted to either side.

I've used some XJ600 latches in the past. The early model, not the Divy.

My buell has a wing nut to hold the seat on and my Triumph uses 2 M6 bolts to hold it so the LC seat catches are like Rolls Royce in comparison !
