Hi i just got a 1982 rd250lc matching numbers does any one know what the numbers on the exhaust should be please

As above, but there is a BUT. The 250's and 350's are stamped the same but are different! Have a look at Xaviers web page as follows: www.rd350lc.net/pageEXHAUST.htmthis explains the differences.

German restricted pipes then. Check your carb refs too, if they also marked 4L2 then they are restricted too.

Thanks what pipes is that for please just took it out for a few miles is it normal for the oil light to flicker on when you slow down

You can take the restricting bits out the exhausts if you cut and weld them back up, 4L2 carbs would just want 4L1 spec jetting to bring them to un-restricted spec, not a big deal.
And yes put some oil in the oil tank.

Yes should be provided fitted with correct internals, so most likely if someone went to the trouble of switching the carbs.
