Nearly ready to put my wheels on so I will be ordering a chain and sprockets.
Is my memory correct in thinking I should be going down 1 tooth on the front for an unrestricted bike? Does that make it 15 & 46 teeth f/R respectively?
Cheers
Andrew

mine is tuned loads i run 16 teeth on front sprocket and 45 teeth on rear sprocket also why would you on a unrestricted bike down gear it(15/46) probably on a standard one then yup down gear 15/46 is the same as removing 4 teeth overall, 1 tooth smaller on the front sprocket is the same as going upto 49 teeth on the rear sprocket and by removing 3 teeth of rear sprocket is the same as going up one on the front sprocket make sure you locktight the tab with the 2 bolt holes in or the could/can come loose then front sprocket falls off had this happen to me i was only doing 10mph then had to push me lc backwards to get it home, even run 17/45 sprockets and that made me lc pull 116psi in fifth gear, even when i run the 10w head and barrel which was slightly modded with a 32mm vm round slide carb and ram air filter and allspeed with the tube cut down but not the baffle and reed stops opened out still used 16/45,
does your cylinder have y1 or y2 stamped on it why because the y1 stamped cylinder makes more power than the y2 barrel/cylinder? ridden a mk2 with a y2 cylinder and it was a bit flat in the power band the set up was allspeed/k@n filter and jetted to suit even my tzr d reg y1 cylinder was loads quicker it even kept up with tuned mk1

Whoops made a bit of a c**k up there it seems.
I guess the question I should be asking is.
When unrestricted what gearing should I be using? Std or something different?
The bike is std with a micron and K&N.
Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys BM standard gearing is 16 front and 46 rear what micron have you got and are you using a spacer tube with the k@n filter but a ram air filter is better but still uses the spacer tube

16 front and 45 back as per standard mk2....if you hit redline in topgear and still feels it needs to go faster then up gear it andrew...my mk1 does this and is stock so i am dropping a tooth on the rear like on the mk2. gaz what mods does your mk1 have also whats the mid range and power band like on your mk1

My Mk2 is a std engine so I'll probably stick with the std gearing. Cheers Andrew
