Ive been looking for a pivot pin/spindle for the LC the past few weeks and Im wondering about there being more than one type. I'd seen this before, but it never really bothered me as here in Aus we only got the later bikes and they all seem to be the same spec, ie tie bars, later brakes, double grease nipple pivot pin etc etc. So, most of the pins/bolts/spindles Ive encountered in the last few decades have all been like this one: Ie. Drilled with twin nipples... These are drilled through I guess? tho maybe not since it has nipples at each end? They have exit holes for the grease to be pumped up and into the bearing surfaces as the original LC swinger is a collar and plain bearing setup. However, are there not also single nipple versions of this pin/spindle/bolt? Were these single nipple units the original ones for the early bikes, perhaps and they were found to favour pushing grease into the bearing with least resistance so they moved to a 2 nipple setup? Or is this the other way round?

The early ones had no nipples or holes, just a plain bolt

The few spindles I have seen have been solid or twin nipples. The twin nipple type have separate drillings. I think such a long small hole would not be cost effective to make.

Great info lads! Thanks so much.
Agreed Tony, line boring such a small hole would be fraught with danger.
