Hi all, I need to fit a new seat cover on my RD125LC . Anyone know where the best (most original looking) can be bought and what do I need to fit it properly ?, an industrial stapler or something ?. Ta

i would buy black or red vinyl off ebay, about £6 a square metre.in a warm room it softens very well and is simple to fit on the seat with a good staple gun.i have covered more than 10 seats and they look fab,the problem with the replacement ones are they are brittle and always seam a little small.i have used them but it takes two people to fit and make a real good job.good luck

Doesn't the std seat cover have a seam running around the top edge and also down the centre at the very front ?. Right royal pain in the bum this as I don't have a staple gun with strong enough staples either, so I need to buy one of those as well

Well an update.......... I suddenly remembered that somewhere hidden in one of my DIY boxes I had an electric staple gun ;D. So I fished it out and tested it on my old seat and it works perfect ;D So, I've bought some black vinyl material specifically designed for interior and exterior seating and was less than £10 including postage and is plenty enough material to do 2 seats . I'll let you know how I get on

looks like a nightmate stretching a piece of flat vinal over a seat,id rather just spend a few quid more and fit a pattern seat cover as that was hard enough for me

yes but the patterned ones dont fit easy,i have fitted a few different makes and there a right pain.the vinyl i buy is soft and stretches really easily.guess it wont last as long but at 5-7£ a square metre it doesnt matter.

I've an electric staple gun tried and tested on the seat, fabric from evil-bay (looks good) and I have the old cover stripped off the seat. What I'd like to know before I screw it up is where is it best to start from ?, i.e. in the middle and work towards both ends or at one end and work across ?. Not the end of the world if I can't do it, as it was just over £10 for enough fabric to do 4 seats Ta

well i started at the back of the seat (rear of bike) as i found the front part where it meets the petrol tank the hardest part,i used a hair dryer on hot to help soften the pattern cover i fitted do it may help, good luck

Well it's done !!!!! I can tell you it's not for the faint hearted and really is a 2 man job (the misses helped me). We also used some craft clamps to hold it in places occasionally when I was stapling. It had a pattern cover on it before and was held on with about 4,000 staples that took me about 30 minutes to get out We actually started across the middle of the seat, as that way you can loose the excess mateial at each end when you get there. What we did was stretched it down to one side, put clamps along to hold it, then stretched it nice and tight down the other side with one or two clamps then when happy with it, wacked some staples in. We then worked along gradually forwards doing a few inches at a time each side and in-between stapling, keep checking it as it goes along. There will be places where it seems like there is excess building up but if you keep stretching and pulling you can get it nice and tight and loose the creases/excess due to the shape of the seat. Obviously when you've finished the front, go back to the centre and do the same backwards. You can see as you go along why the pattern covers are made from 3/4 different peices of material sewn togther. Anyway, pics below, I think you'll agree it looks well smart done, lets just hope it stays that way when sat on and used
