Met Mark and his beautiful RD700 earlier this afternoon. A piece of engineering wizardry and a thoroughly nice bloke.

Spent all day there today with Mouse, and met with Mark and Julie, Mutts, Rob, Chris (Sidney) and his missus, Kev and Johhny Corin, and I'm sure a few other forum members, without realising !! Had a great time. Bit quieter than I thought it would be but still a great show. Mark's bike looked stunning and the Lc Club boys did him proud with a great position on the stand Nice one lads Fingers crossed for "best in show" - it's easily worthy of the title Dusty

You know, after thinking about it and watching people at the show yesterday, I think Mike's bike was too good. It is so perfect, that it just looks like any other LC. A lot of people just gave it a glance and moved on to the Unicorn bike with with the sparkly horn and the rainbow seat. They could not see what is so special about it. The bike is perfect, but it needs a better audience!
In general I'd sum up the show by saying that it was a shadow of what it was a couple of years ago. There are empty spaces even in the main hall and whole rows of autojumble stalls missing. I'd say it was less that two thirds of what it was. It's sad but it looks as if a lot of traders have not made it through the pandemic years. The other thing I've learned is not to bother getting there early. You could hardly move for the crowds at 9.30, while everything was far more pleasant after lunch, and you could get to see the stalls and talk to people. Cheers Dave

I agree. We've queued for half an hour or more to get to the car park in previous years. This time we drove right in with no hold ups at all, just before 9am. Auto jumble was much smaller than before, with big gaps as you say. The big Marquee that normally houses the Suzuki clubs was missing - they were inside this time to fill up space I guess. I think 2 thirds or less is spot on. Allen Millyard wasn't there, and didn't see any of his bikes either - normally a staple of the show, and obviously no Norbo, although there would have been plenty of room for him. Upside is the Lc club boys got a better position in the hall and they had a great spread of bikes, allowing more people to move around them. We still really enjoyed it in spite of the gaps, and as always some stunning 70/80's era bikes, and great friends of course Dusty

was my first Stafford show, and i really enjoyed it. Even managed to get my teenage son away from his Xbox to go and look at the RD700LC, we may have had some looks, because we spent quite a time looking and admiring this special bike. so well done Mark, you have cetainly set a very high bar for others to try and follow. If i may, can i please ask and i do hope i dont upset anyone but, The Unicon Bike "why"?

I went to the show today, really enjoyed it. The £7 pastie with a £4 latte was a bit of a p!ss take though. Met up with quite a few lads I’ve not seen in ages, and was introduced to some others. Bagged some bits for my 250 project from Kev Schofield too which was a bonus. There was a Millyard bike in the hall to the left of the main hall Dusty, a 666 with Higgspeed pipes, up for sale too, but at £25k I’d not enough cash with me.....

I managed to get a pic of the RD700 on my phone ( hope its OK to post ) the attention to detail on this build is incredible - stunning build - I enjoyed the show overall- bit disappointed in the almost total absence of any LC2 on display ? - not a single 31K,N/F anywhere to be seen ? Unless I missed them ?

Great pics fellas I missed the Millyard bike Bill. You normally see a few of Allens bikes - like the Flying Millyard, and he often fires them up in the outdoor paddock area, but nothing that we saw this year Mouse spotted the Rgv race bike Steve - Mouse really knows his racing and the bikes, but it was tucked out of the way for such a rare bike. We met Johnny Corrin for the first time in the afternoon on Saturday. Johnny is a member on here and a lovely, and very humble guy. Has a great history in the racing scene, and many stories to tell I bet He has very kindly given me access to his extensive race bike picture library, so I will be drip feeding them into the Facebook photos thread in the coming months. We are very lucky in our Lc world that It is populated by many talented and helpful/friendly people. Nice to catch up with peeps "face to face" too. So even though it's not like it was, the show is still the only one (probably) that I would still make the effort to go to. Dusty

Troy Bayliss did a wild card ride on one at Philip Island and gave the regulars a hard time even though it was well down on top end. That got him noticed and the rest, as they say, is history. I've tried unsuccessfully so far to find the video.

I'm pretty sure there was another Millyard multi-cylinder bike there somewhere, maybe a five? John was invited to do the re-vamped Pro-Am a few years ago. John is LC racing royalty for sure.

John did brush lightly on the Pro Am connection a year or two back on here, but being the humble fella that he is, didn't "big it up" ! I've posted one or two Pro Am pics, pinched from Facebook pages, in the Facebook pics thread, some time back now. Thanks to Johnny's archive, I will be posting more Dusty

Stafford is a draining weekend, however, it is, fantastic to show a bike. My voice is just coming back from constantly chatting to people. The LC club were so good to me and Julie, and everyone without exception, were just so warm, friendly and enthusiastic about the 700. I can't thank you all enough. It was Julie's first time at the show, I'm glad many of you met her. There are far too many people for me to mention, but you all know who you are. Glad quite a few of you got to see the bike, I think you'll agree, the pictures just don't convey the size of the engine- it looks like a 2 stroke CBX! Cheers, Mark
