I'm going to o ring my head after i'd headgasket failure through the week. Question is, would you bother making some sort of water flow restriction to the head like the OEM headgasket does, or just run it with a smear of sealant and let it flow. Here's a pic of what I mean - Picture stolen from FB:

I run o rings on 2 of my motors.i have them in the cylinder and head and sandwich a copper gasket between them. You need to keep the original flow or it will overheat quickly as I found out.

Have you had this done yet Simon? How many miles /years was the Athena gasket on for? I had a new one weep , I forgot to torque it up on the first warm up. My other 2 have only done a couple of hundred miles in the last 2 years, running ok. The Athena seems to be identical to the original factory one. I'll be looking out for the solution to cooling as above, as I'll get an o ring head for my Autisa, expecting to have that off for inspection from time to time.
Also O'ringing the head supposedly helps optimize the squish and compression.
