Hi all,
We all know Yamaha don’t make a lot of the bits they sell in nice Yamaha boxes or bags.
It’s a consensus that things like LC petrol taps are identical to those sold directly by the manufacturer.
It’s also a common ‘to do’ to use genuine oils seals.
However what about those made by ARS? Surely the same part?
Opinions please.
Jon

Pretty sure yamaha 'sub out' seal manufacture to ars obviously made to yamaha spec as in all sub contract work to a major company, obviously yamaha cannot manufacture everything on site.

Jon Or "not for use in motorcycle engines" 😁 You pay your money and take your choice. If it doesnt concern you that you may have to strip your engine down to replace leaking crank seals then go for it. My view is that at the very least use ARS or Yamaha for the crank, all other seals can be replaced in situ, if needed. Simply Bearings sell good and cheap seals.

Anyy recommendations on fork seals? I'd two sets rebuilt with seals the guy supplied last summer and they're both leaking already, I'm guessing he used chineseium.
Pyramid parts on ebay any good? I've a couple of tapered head bearings from them and they're grand

Pyramids bearings are not that great, a guy on a local forum here did a video with an all balls steering set and the pyramids were awful.
I would not recommend their seals either, defo cheap chinese.
Buy from yam or buy quality from you local bearing supplier. Dont chance it on things that matter. Kicker seals and stuff like that you can replace and get little use maybe, but not crank etc.

Shoot me down if you want you bunch of tight arses. 🤪 These bikes are our passion. They are worth a load of pound notes. Why worry about saving a few quid on cheaper things like seals??? Buy genuine and not worry imo.
Incoming!!!!!!!! Run for the bunker..........

I totally agree with you on engine seals and all bearings, unless you know better, personally I prefer to use NTN bearings wherever I can, I have never had any issues with them in all my years of tinkering, I will also happily settle for Koyo or SKF, but NTN if possible for me, my preferences only. And I am not trying to say I know better, I think you can read all sorts into my statement, I am not the best at saying what I want to say on tinternet.
