Don’t use cable ties for switchgear wiring on the handlebar, they are a wider rubber notched strap. And... still available new from yam, unlike the later bikes where the part number defaults to a skinny cable tie... not good value for a £few.

Fit the inner mudguard before you fit the rear shock. Fit the air filter before fitting the engine, although I have read it can be done with the cylinders off.

fitting later fork stanchions on early bikes and vica-versa fitting 250LC headlight ears on a 350LC and vica-versa fitting headlight ears and not using the legs to bottom them on the bottom yoke so that they are at the exact same height fitting the radiator spacers/rubbers incorrectly, longer ones on the LHS, shorter ones on the RHS iirc - it was done so that the top hose was aligned correctly fitting a decal/stripe on the front mudguard fitting later calipers on early bikes and vica-versa fitting new front disk lock tab plates and then not knocking them over - why ? fitting the wrong carbs on the wrong year of bike fitting double exhaust gaskets at the header rather than fixing the problem correctly * yes indicator lens are different front to rear the list goes on I've seen that many bodges ! Bodges ? Or did the guy building it say f**k your how it should be. I`ll build what I want. Mine 1981 350 now a 3 striper (not out till 1982) cause thats what I wanted Decal stripe on (cut down) Front muddy 250 Headlamp ear, I cut the horn bracket off and dressed it up, the legs were missing so I got the measurement from OEB. Still holds my headlight 31K carbs, why not, bit newer might be a bit of improvement. Were easier to get than 4LO/01 I don`t have any indicators. I`ve knocked over one disc locking tab of the two for each bolt, cause they snap off when you straighten them, so i figured I`ll get two uses out of them (scotsman) In conclusion I built my bike for me and I don`t care what anyone says PS The numbers dont match and its full of stainless bolts Need to check those radiator spacers

Some of them had a stripe on the front mudguard. My black 1982 350 had one from new. Some things I don't understand: Polishing the rib on the cylinder and the one on the head. Sinking the back light in. Clocks above the top yoke.

Gunny I can see both sides of this discussion. I couldn’t agree more it’s your bike, build it how you want. I suspect the jist of this thread is about the righteous green bolt brigade trying to restore to standard specification, but making a few faux pars. I’ve never had standard bikes. Closest I had was my first F2, and it wasn’t long before the exhausts were replaced with Microns. Jon

Take the engine out to fit the airbox!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can fit or remove the air box by taking off the inlet manifolds and taking off the top air filter part, a little patients and don't force anything and it goes, done it myself so I know you can, its a tight space but can be done.
