Will an LC always be worth more sold as a complete bike or broken as spares when you think what parts are selling for now ?

It's a difficult one that as the bikes are making so much money now
When you consider an absolute sh1tter is 3k
Depends what you have
If it's a complete rough bike then sell complete
If it's a part finished or barely started hybrid then part it out
You would have to be willing to post and deal with the eBay muppets to get the most money for parts

Probably more in bits for the project bikes but I don’t think I could bring myself to break mine for the extra money. I’d rather see it back on the road with someone enjoying it 👍

The sum of the parts is always greater than the some of the whole
Price up every part of say a Ford focus, add them all together and compare that figure with that of a new one
Thats how dealers make their money on the sale of parts, they make stuff all on the new car itself

Not always the case with used stuff
If you bought a 10k LC I don't know if you could break it and make 11k
Its why sh1tty lc projects are making so much. When the seller is valuing them he's thinking a grand for a frame, grand and a half for an engine etc

If the breakers could make more money by selling complete they wouldn't spend the time dismantling and selling off part by part…it’s only the most marketable bikes where you can get close or exceed the sum of the parts by selling them whole.

Well I did a 250lc project a couple of years ago, although the rolling chassis was only £600,cost me another 3grand to get it completely finished not matching numbers either!could have bought a nice import for about the same money. At least I know everything is in good order and the satisfaction of saving a 250lc as a lot were converted to 350s etc

How about a mk3 dt125lc ? Would this be better breaking, I'm sick of electric prob ( intermittent starting) DT's make good money but not sure the parting out would be worth the time and hassle I bought one years ago as I'd always wanted one when I was younger but couldn't afford one Same problem as you, absolute bitch of a thing and totally ruined it for me Went through 3 cdi's (try finding one 🙄) Eventually replaced the stator with a new one and it sorted it but still wouldn't idle for more than a minute without slipping the throttle 😕 Sold it straight on and bought a tsx250 Strangely another member was doing one at the same time and had the same problem Stator was his problem too so seems a weak point but rare to find a replacement Steve

The hard to find parts will always sell quickly but you will be left with a box full of parts that will take forever to sell if you decide to break. I never could. I get too emotionally attached to these lumps of metal and plastic!

Lc's are maybe different due to the number of people building them
This means nearly every part will sell easily
