Hi Sean Not a lot of internal parts are interchangeable between ypvs and lc. ypvs is wider inside. I do know however these bits do clutch and primary gear (matched) Tacho drive gear selector forks and rods kickstart gear and idler primary cover will fit but slightly different shape. different oil pump cover) water pump and oil pump
Gearbox is different (both shafts and gears) selector drum is different crank is different
There will no doubt be other parts which don't swap over
Just my own experience here
John

I think the 3rd and 4th gears are the same not 100% sure without measuring. I know the dogs on the rest of the YPVS gears are slightly bigger.

If you go on the Fowlers website, you can cross reference all the part numbers with the relevant fiches. Or better still, download the relevant fiches to your PC - you will reference them a lot !! Dusty

Hello and Happy New Year fellow Scot 😁
Clutch inner and outer basket and primary gear should fit but basket end plate is different
Kickstart mechanism, tacho drive, idler gear and selector forks are all 4l0 parts but the shafts, selector drum and majority of gear clusters are different
Al LC gear change shaft will physically fit in but it is 5mm or so shorter so probably won't stock through the left case enough
Remember the LC case needs the nipple in the centre of the clutch lopped off

With a little machining, I believe the YPVS crank, will fit LC cases ..... might save you added expense to use what you have.

gear selector forks and rods Only one of the gear selector rods is the same. 4L0 rods are approx 123mm and 136mm long. YPVS rods are approx 123mm and 142mm long. :-) I'll get my (olive green) coat...

Just swop the ypvs crank for an LC one, someone on here might want to swop. Is the ypvs crank new or refurbished? Jess

Rigga your right, its a little bit of machining, but a right bitch to do ! - my milling machine isn't big enough to do it, and finding anybody who will do it is very hard I am looking at investing in a bigger milling machine, so in the future, you never know !

It’s a real shame these days that parts aren’t readily available like they were in the past. Goes to reason I suppose?
There are quite a few commonalities with the LC and YPVS engine, but equally quite a few differences. Enough to make changing internals from one to another difficult today.
As said I think it would be far better to get a crank to fit an LC engine if that’s what you have parts for. You’d be hard pushed to find all the parts such as decent barrels, valves etc for the rest of the build at a decent price.

Doesn’t Norbo do exchange cranks
Not sure if it helps in this situation though

Doesn’t Norbo do exchange cranks Not sure if it helps in this situation though Give him a call and have a chat, he's very approachable Exchange usually means the same unit, as then the old gets refurbished, and that then joins the new batch. But unless you ask, you ain't gonna know. His numbers on the shop page.
