Hi all, I need to replace the clutch basket rubbers on my 350 pv, I have been mulling over my options on how to do this and was leaning towards a new basket with bolt on back plate but at £120 for the basket and another £40 for rubbers I have been holding back, now I have seen Dilly Dilly Dave Wright is having the same trouble with his new LC2 and has ordered new rivets and rubbers from Yambits, so my question is, has anyone else used these Yambits parts and are they any good, I know Yambits does not have a good reputation when it comes to quality, also does anyone know if Dave Wright is on this group, if not does anyone know how to contact him, maybe we could get him to do a review on these parts and show the re riviting prosess on one of his videos.

The Mitaka baskets seem to wear quicker than an OEM basket. The one I took out my engine when I rebuilt it had done about 3000 miles and had a few grooves already.
You can sometimes get a full OEM basket at a good price if you shop around.
I would prefer to not use Yambits rubber parts for critical areas, as if the wrong material is used, they can disintegrate.
I used Wiseco rubbers in mine.

My basket is showing very little ware, it's just the rubbers that are shot.

There is play as standard on the OEM clutch, as the rubbers are not a snug fit like the aftermarket rubbers. It is not necessarily worn...

Norbo does the mitaka baskets at £105 and the rubbers for £15
You can buy a new genuine basket but you don't get to pick the number on it for backlash so it's potluck. Also ideally with a new basket you'd want a new primary gear
I decided to go down this route but ended up buying 4 baskets and 7 gears to get 4 matching sets (now that's a scary £ total)
Sold 2, 1 for next build and 1 as a spare

I know Dave, I'll ask him.

Hi giggsey, if your basket is ok i would suggest getting in touch with Gorden Jones from TZ350.co.uk. Ring him and have a chat. The re riveting process should be done in a press.

The re riveting process should be done in a press. Yes, not with a lump hammer although demonstrated by some folks who ought to know better….

Yes, I have access to a press, would like to see someone else do it first, if I go that route I will order 2 sets of rivets so I get a few goes at getting it right, that's why I would like to see Dilly Dave have a go.

The re riveting process should be done in a press. Do you know what force the press should apply?

I've never really paid attention to the pressure as i have always used different presses.
