afternoon chaps, great site.. just looking at buying an Elsie, had a few back in the day, a while ago now mind you,got a couple of jap classics in the garage both used regularly now not to sound completely stupid but is there anything i should seriously look for when going to see an LC, I'm not daft but don't want to turn up with Rose coloured glasses and miss an obvious give away that might just cost me alot of extra money to put right. cheers Al

Lots out there for sale, some very nice, some awful, prices also vary from realistic to stupid, are you wanting one to tidy up that is already a good start point or one to rebuild. Prices are all over the place but a nicely restored bike is now generally over 6K, anything less I'd say its a good purchase, bikes do come up for sale now and again on here and probably better examples in most cases.

Save/borrow the extra. It will save you money in the long term.

Welcome to the forum. If you use the search function you will find a few threads on the topic. It really depends on what you want and what is your budget. If you just want an LC rider to nip around the country lanes to relive your youth, then an import non-matching numbers tatty 250LC will give you that, and you won't devalue it, unless you bin it. At the other end of the scale is a UK matching numbers 350LC, either fully restored, or very original will cost you a lot of money, but you may be nervous chucking yr investment around the country lanes. Also as mentioned above, some people love a rebuild challenge (me!) and others want something they can just jump on, ride and grin. Lots of free advice and encouragement on here once you decide which way you are heading. Whichever way, I'm sure you will enjoy. Also look at Xavier's site re some of the history and peculiarities of the LC... www.rd350lc.net/index.htm

For value and fun buy a 250lc, pick up a spare 250 top end, send it for a 370 conversion, buy a set of spannies and laugh your tits off 🤣🤣🤣

But that's a very good option if you're not after a standard bike in any way, in fact its a win win, as same grins for cheaper outlay.

I've had a few lcs in my youth , the one i remember most was a stan Stephens tuned 350, allspeeds, Boysens, fork brace, damper, it was bonkers, couldn't keep the front wheel down, didn't stop very well either, scared the life out of me, i was 18, young dumb and, you know the rest 😎

If it's a Hybrid you want then you can do alot more with them
LC with a YPVS motor is popular

Very nice, welcome to the club. I see from other posts you looking to replace air pods with stock air box, good choice I'd say. I'd also think about replacing the clear 2T lines with Yamaha originals including the clips. If you do a search you will find that people have had issues getting the clear pipes sealing, and the Yam ones are still available and surprisingly cheap.
Enjoy the bike. Big grin factor.
