All I can say is that I bought one over 3 years ago and it's still working fine. Maybe I got a 'Monday' one and all the others were made on Friday.

The key point is in the strength of the union between the stand to frame bracket and the tubular shaft. It’s ‘obvious’ a decent design would have something more that just a butt joint, but without examination who knows. All I know is I’m happier spending £40 to get the foot repaired on an old stand than to spend any fresh folding on a pattern one. It maintains authenticity, is more sustainable and supports local enterprises.

It maintains authenticity, is more sustainable and supports local enterprises. That's exactly my thoughts. If there isn't enough weld penetration at the joint it will just break off Each one may be different as each is individually welded I certainly know that if I'm spending £40 I'd prefer a 40 year old tried and tested good one (like the one I found him) than a new one that is questionable Consider the cost of a dented tank, broken indicators and scratched exhaust and God forbid there was another bike parked beside it Steve

And that’s why I’m holding onto both of mine they are only going up in value and not down like an Lc with a shambits one fitted.
