Hi,
Bit of a boring subject - I've got 3 tyre pressure gauges and they all give quite different readings - so I don't trust any of them - can anyone recommend an accurate gauge please ? - I want to set the pressures up accurately for trackday use.
They're all fiddly to use without letting too much air out of the tyre as well - I hate them :-(
Many thanks.
Cheers Paul

I doubt any tyre pressure gauges are that accurate, lets face it how would you tell
Are digital ones any better, one would hope so
If the bike doesn't handle properly then one thing to do is alter the tyre pressures using the same gauge each time

I too have a digital tyre gauge and yes it is easy to use
If right angle valves could be put on the bike it would be an even easier task, we have them on the other bikes, but not on the LC2
You've always got the issue of the clamp end being too long to get it to go onto the valve more easily
TBH I have no idea if the LC2 rims can have a right angled valve fitted, perhaps someone will come along and enlighten me

Thanks for the advice everyone - it’s amazing how such a simple mundane task turned out so complex - I’ll definitely buy an adapter and hopefully source an accurate gauge in the UK

Interesting Digi tire gauge.. But ~300$ is a bit much for my sensibilities. Cheap Digi gauges I've experimented with... are Inaccurate to 3 decimal places. I've resorted to using 3 metal slider types and averaging their results. In truth tho I rarely need that accuracy. PS: Cheap extender hoses, 3" or 5 " long (~3$ from aliexpress) are a godsend for ease of valve access. They also have an additional schrader valve in them so unscrewing losses are minimized.

Yep, i agree the one i have isnt cheap but its a great device, its lovely to work with good kit after years of struggling with junk. Kinda like when you bought your first decent ratchet or your first rattle gun. Sure its overkill for what i need but its a joy to use and Ive never had to even charge its battery yet lol yeah its not being used enough lol I know that most people wont think its worth the money, but if youve owned a car or bike that needed accurate tyre pressures doing before each use then you might think differently. Most of my mates thought i was mad when i got this, apart from the ones with their own commercial garages lol Ive certainly spent more on things i use less and/or are less useful lol. For the OP: When i started looking for a new inflator I began with the higher end devices that were sold by the auto shops, our equivalent of Halfords. I rapidly found that they sold rubbish. These were priced higher (way more than double the price) than the cheaper simpler units from places like machine mart etc and offered the promise of a 'pro' style or 'garage forecourt' experience. This was fantasy, do not be fooled. The units were cheaply built to look like commercial units but were just looky-likeys. I wasnt really after huge accuracy but I wanted reproducible pressures each time at least. For double the money of those I found that with shopping around I could get an actual device used by garages. I figured if I did that then it would probably see me out as well as being accurate and reliable. Remember the prices on manufacturer websites (like i posted re my device) are RRP, you can do better usually. My Jamec Pem wasnt sold at RRP lol. I will add that I also had mine for a birthday, my family bought it for me instead of yet more socks. Ive found giving them a list of stuff i'd not buy for myself with ideas on where to buy it often nets something cool and actually exciting to open on the day. Socks are useful, but not cool or exciting. On gauges like mine in normal mode you set it to a pressure and connect it to the tyre, the computer in it then auto fills the tyre to the set pressure then beeps. It will add and remove air as needed. This is useful as you dont need to mess about trying to remember what the pressure needed was lol yeah getting old sucks when youve 57 things on your mind while doing the mindless tasks like pumping up tyres haha. It does allow manual inflation as well of course and is able to be set in all the different pressure measurements (kpa, psi and bar) as well, and does over inflation for bead seating etc. I would expect any digital commercial unit to do that stuff. Its backlit as well, very helpful in low light. One thing i would say is that most of the newer units (even the Jamec Pem new models) are not as accurate, most now are no better than +/-2psi. Thats one of the reasons I went for this older model. I wouldnt want to be 2psi out, that seems too much to me. While searching for the pic above I see they also now sell a few spider style hose connectors for pumping multiple tyres at once to the same pressure. I probably wont buy that lol. (they also do a 6 way version!) Anyway, not saying anyone needs something like i have in a normal home garage, its a pro tool used in commercial shops. That said i am very glad i got mine. Hopefully it will be with me for years so I'll get my money back etc.

Just waiting for my 2 tyre pressure gauges to be delivered- - 1 Gauge with hose and valve - and one pencil type - I just hope that I now get some kind of agreement on the pressures with the new ones - or will I now end up with 5 different pressures for my collection of gauges :-)
