Finally got my forks back from Dynasurf, they did a great job, also fitted some upgraded calipers, the old ones were woeful for the size of the bike, tested and taxed it and had it out today for a test ride, bloody hell it's quick. Lovely, I had a derestricted and jetted 1991 RU EXUP for many years, was a cracking bike, used it for work, weeks away in France and weekend thrashing.
Noticeably brisker than the early Blades as well..Alas I had to sell it when it started using oil and dropping out of gears but great value for money of you can find a decent one , like yours.

I love an EXUP
Mine was derestriced too
It also used quite a bit of oil but that was normal
500ml per 1000 miles was acceptable
Absolute stonk monster
Strangely I checked it the other night on the DVLA site and it's not been on the road for a long time so probably dead
Checked a good few of my old bikes and most went off the road within a couple of years of me selling them
Even my 1900 mile 3 year old 2006 R1 hasn't been mot'd since 2015 with 3500 miles on it
Also had a colour change to black which makes me think he did the same as me and threw it down the road π€

Just had my new fork legs installed on the YZF750R and will pick them up when the latest lockdown finishes. Rechroming was going to be more expensive than new Italian inners.

I brought an EXUP in 1989 to go to the TT on. Sadly I didn't have time to derestrict it before I went, but did so not long after by simply cutting the half moon restrictors out of the inlet rubbers. At the time I had an 8mm camcorder and strapped it to the bike to record some laps of the IOM course. Sadly I only ever converted a small part of the footage to digital and now the camera doesn't work so I can't get any more footage I had it for a while and ended up getting it bored out to fit Wiseco high compression pistons and OWO1 race kit cam shafts, which gave me about 170bhp at the rear wheel. Edit. I remember at the time when I brought it that I was disappointed that the EXUP valve didn't do the do the same cleaning cycle as the YPVS.

Cheers Gents, it is indeed a monster of a thing, maybe a tad too fast for me, we'll see, I have replaced the tyres, chain and sprockets, exhaust, brakes and forks, my Brother rebuilt the carbs and serviced the engine doing the shims as well, he fitted the 400rr headlight and stick coils, i was going to strip and restore the frame and swinger but the patina is all original for a 30 year old bike and seems a shame to over restore her. Andy.
