Its understood that Yamaha builds bikes from parts they already have and also parts they make specially for that model. The latter parts may later be reused on another model, but they keep the old part number. That way you can see where the part originated. So we know that anything that starts 4L0 started life as a part designed and used on an LC. All good, and then i found this: www.ebay.com.au/itm/153965758682?hash=item23d91308da:g:INIAAOSw5Ede33ql&frcectupt=trueSo, where does that go on an LC?

Some countries LC seats were fitted with a strap, this is the plate that the retaining bolt fits through. OEB

I would have guessed something to do with a seat strap or a Jap only cowl
If you search the part no it's also on the r1z 250

I was hoping so much that the central stand of the RD LC could be the same as some other bike and instead, no !! Perhaps the LC 4l0 model is the only one of all the RD models that has fewer parts in common with the others, or the only one that does not mount parts from other bikes. For example, the RD 2UA has many identical interchangeable parts, such as light switches, brake levers, brake pump, instruments, indicators, foot pegs, rear lights, and you can replace the brake calipers with others without making changes or mounting plates.

Well things like switches and stuff just bolt on and so long as you can check the wiring almost anything will physically fit, same with levers/masters etc which are quite commonly used parts. The c stand is a funny shape and has old school mounts on the LC, tho this does serve to remind me that the LC is very 70s in so many ways kind of like its some link between the 70s and the 80s.
Lots of 4L0 part numbers appear on other bikes, and the LC is made up of lots of bearings and seals common to other yams. The dedicated stuff is mostly bodywork and frame related etc.

In fact some things are properly of the LC, such as the light switches, maybe even the headlight. Many aftermarket spare parts are also found in the UK, unfortunately with Brexit, buying for us has become a big problem, a very long time of arrival and customs taxes of about 30%; I think this is also a damage for those who have to sell.

if you check '80 4L0 microfiche on my website, since it's from France and we have the strap here, you will find this part !

Thanks Xavier, I understood exactly what it was once Nigel posted, no one seems to like those straps here as the LC has a grab rail etc.
