ok, I am sure I've been conspicuous by my absence on the forum, so I'll expand on why (to a point), as I know a good few people have been trying (in vain mainly) to get hold of me
Thankfully its nothing sinister or heart wrenching for those of a nervous disposition !
It all started a few years back with my parents going from excellent health (well for 80+yr olds) to very poorly in the space of a few months, that led to me having to spend a fortune (all my pension and savings - circa ~ £250+k) on buying them a bungalow to live in, just after sorting that mess out, (I was already 6+ months behind on work), I found myself moving house and workshop (unplanned) and relocating to be nearer my parents (1 mile instead of 30 miles), which made life a lot easier for my wife and I in helping out with them.
However, this unplanned move was compressed into 6 weeks, which made life very difficult as I didn't even have any new premises/workshop at this point, anyway, I found a place, but it needed completely kitting out from the ground up, which I did very quickly with the help of friends etc, and a lot of money - or course I wasn't able to do any work during this time
So January this year things started to settle down a bit, but we was living in rented accommodation and looking for our new home, unfortunately my dad was rushed into hospital and there he stayed for nearly 6 weeks, with the mandatory phone call at 11pm at night to say he wouldn't make it through the night, after 4 of those calls over a period of 2 weeks I was about fried ! - anyway, he eventually battled through and is now back home and making good progress
In between all this, we found a house we liked and bought it, but it needed some work, which we set about doing while living in rented, unfortunately we was let down (at the last minute) by the tradesmen I had ageed to do some of the work for us, which left us in a hole as our rental property had been sold underneath us so had a hard date in which to be out.
So, after a lot of headaches I found some other people to do the work, a couple have been brilliant, but one has been a nightmare, which has caused me more work and necessiated me taking 2 weeks off to sort some stuff out before we moved in (I only got running water in the house at 10pm the day we actually moved in !)
Currently we are living in a house with some floors missing, every room needing decorating, a load of plumbing still needing to be done and a list of jobs as long as my arm that I need to crack on with, but we will ge there eventually
Of course, all of the above has led me into a crunch point work wise, I've lost so much time having to deal with "other life" stuff that my time has been split between working on bikes and sorting family stuff out (family is more important by the way)
So last week I changed my voicemail message to say until I clear my current backlog of work I am not accepting/booking in any new work, clearly I have a lot of jobs on the books and people/bikes booked in, these are what I am working on to clear now and honour my promises (albeit late)
Once I've cleared the bulk of these jobs I'll be booking in new work and trying to help people more and getting back to frequenting this forum again
So for now, all I can do is apologise to those people who have been trying to get hold of me, most of the time its voicemail, but I am desperately trying to get through the jobs and answering phone calls doesn't achieve that, plus on occassion I have been more than a little short with people, not ideal TBH, but being under pressure does this to me, also getting over 100+ calls a week is somewhat distracting and time consuming to return each call (again means I am not fixing stuff)
So in summary, basically life has got in the way of doing my job and helping people, but I am on the road to sorting this, but its going to take time to get back on top of things, for now I'll keep chipping away and look forward to helping as many people as I can, I really do appreciate the support I have recieved from everybody who knows me on here, I won't forget
On the plus side, I am hoping to have some sort of internet access at the new workshop in the coming weeks, so again, that will ease things.........
Keep smiling and ride safe guys
