I remember helping my Mum sticking greensheild stamps in a blank book. And queuing up in the Argos style shop with a carrier bag of full books to trade in for a set of pans

My Dad was always doing cars up to sell. He said go with your Mum to the garage, take this can (it was a metal GTX can) and bring back a gallon of petrol. I remember it well, it was 37½ pence.

Cars without seat belts in the back. My old man had a Jag XJ6 in the seventies, he’d Polish them leather seats every Saturday morning, come the afternoon there’d be 3 kids sliding all over them as he went round corners, yep no seat belts, wouldn’t dream of it now not even for the dog ! remember my grandad puffing away on woodbines with me in the car with him, mind he had me driving it when I was about 6 😂( I never liked those guffs though lol )

I remember getting some fuel for my field bike 50p. 50p PER GALLON NOT LITRE!!!!!! Also when I started driving, you could save stamps up from the petrol station and get 4 crapy glasses. Joy of joys. Dog poo that was white and used to rot away. (sorry for that one). I remember the Robinsons jam that had little "figures" that you sent away to get a badge. Outrageously racist now. When I was a quire boy and the vicar used to help me off with my clothes...... oh no was that was just me!!! LOL Just joking. Decimalisation. I used to go to the sweet shop to get some sweets, just so I could get "new" change in "new" money. sad.

Yesterday I filled my bike's tank with fuel. It cost £15.00. When I used to fill up my Tiger Cub, it would cost me 15/00. That's fifteen shillings, or 75p! Here's the real fact to blow all you youngsters' minds. I remember having to take a ration book to the shop to buy sweets.

Only 3 channels on the telly and then watching the white dot disappear when you switched it off a midnight unless you wanted to watch the test card.
