I finally got my bike today, very pleased apart from is is raining so I can't take it out for a spin. So I thought I would fit the mirrors I got from Norbo....how the hell do you fit them, I am worried about stripping the threads on the fittings and I can't work it out at all...driving me mad !! Tip please...Pic on new bike 177688742_143692757727010_980114426441408442_n by James Green, on Flickr

But how do you tell which mirror is which? Get an M10 nut and try each mirror, the thread it fits is r/h thread so l/h mirror. OEB

If you don't have a nut hold the threaded section between you thumb and fore finger like it's sitting on the bike with your thumb nail half way up the thread
Rotate the mirror clockwise as if you are tightening it
If your thumb nail moves up the thread towards the lock nut then it's the left mirror
If it goes down off the end it's the right mirror

But how do you tell which mirror is which? The bend, hold roughly in position without trying to fit, should be obvious as would otherwise point to the front.

He might be in aus, then everything is upside down or back to front. If you've got aus mirrors your in trouble unless you have the bike rubberside up...which I've had on numerous occasions...

Still having major mirror issues ...I think the thread on the LH one has been stripped in the past and that is whey I cant get the mirror to fit.

So will the left hand mirror only fit the left mount and the right mirror only fit the right mount?

I asked once before where are you as I'm sure one of us would be local and could pop over to help.

You can buy a 10mm left hand tap to clean left handed threads out if ever needed. (you can use it righthanded though)

So I am not mental or stupid or both...
I had two right hand mirrors, so that is why the LH one wouldn't fit and also because the thread is stripped on the clutch bracket.
That is all

At least, a regular M10 Helicoil will fix the issue. Lefthand-thread-repair would be difficult to obtain.

The thread is fine M10 x 1.25, not the normal M10 x 1.50

The thread is fine M10 x 1.25, not the normal M10 x 1.50 FWIW, all yam's M10s are fine on our bikes. Also, helicoil do a fine M10 kit so no worries.
