Hi all,
I have noticed that my 400 is leaking fuel and leaving a nice brown stain on the side panel so its got to be the bottom end of the tank where they always rot through
I have a couple of options
Number 1
Get another second hand tank ( noticed rd James as one on eBay ) and patch and pressure test then paint
Number 2 Use my original tank like my friend suggested and send it to Martin newlyn to work his magic trouble is the liner on this tank is breaking down and starting to come away from the walls , I need something to get the liner out first ( any ideas)
Plus I need to look at new decals ( where is the best place to get them )
It’s a shame really as the tank looks pretty good
Thanks
Al

Hi' i have have used acetone to remove a failed liner . If you are having it repaired and then repainted you could go down this road . I have done a few like this . Obviously you need to remove any thing you don't want damaged by fire .

Usually, its the mounting bracket welds. The tank metal is really thin and the welds become porous through vibration or rust. I didnt want to line mine as its in decent nick inside so got a decent welder who cut the bracket off, built tank up with stainless steel weld and welded the bracket back on. Didn't affect the visible paintwork (he kept it cool as he welded). Not sure if an old liner would make it more difficult to weld and not sure if you could leave it in there after getting it welded as it might break up

Easiest way to remove all the paint and the liner is to get the tank chemically dipped ,my liner had broken away too so I got mine done at a local powder coaters for £10 and it only took a few hours.

Hi ,tank care products in Norfolk , brilliant work , with tank liner's the key to success is in the key ! Ie the tank needs blasting on the inside to create this then the liner will last ( if done correctly) 👍
