Hi what size bolt holds the front brake pads in I’ve tried 5.5mm too big and 5mm too small ,

On the fowlers drawing there is the securing bolt for the caliper or a pin for the pads,I wouldnt use just any old bolts on brakes I would get the correct ones to be on the safe side

Don't think its a threaded bolt, just a pin with a hex type head, it's held in via a sneaky circlip hidden under the plastic pad cover, a bit hard to see as it's bent 90 degs as well. this is from memory, so could be completely wrong

Yep same as FZ750 there is an angled R clip inside the caliper that holds the pins in

yep, same base sumitomo caliper as the early ypvs rear unit. pin, not a bolt.

Here is one from the rear brake from powerhouse Its a fiver there are others on their site maybe one will fit

yep, cos the 500s rear is the same as the 85-on 250/350 fronts...
